The free updates don't include upgrades.
IOW, when Office 2024 (or whatever) comes out you don't get to upgrade to it. However, you will still receive security, bug, and critical updates to your Office 2021 for the life of the product (thru Oct 13, 2026).

Also, read the ONE COMPUTER part as something that you control. If a computer that you had this Office 2021 on dies, you are fully able to license the same Office 2021 on a new computer, provided you log into your Microsoft account and remove the old computer activation. It's a full retail license that is fully transferrable - as long as it's only on one computer at a time.

AlsoĀ², If you already have (or have had) a Microsoft account tied to a subscription Microsoft product (Office365/Microsoft365) Microsoft may not allow you to use that account for perpetual products (although this isn't explained when you try to use it). Just create a new, free Microsoft account and activate it that way. You can use the key you receive for any valid email address (regardless of the email address you enter when purchasing the Office 2021 Pro).

I purchased from here in mid April. Last week my installation suddenly restricted my access as unlicensed. I called Microsoft support and they tried to help but unable to saying something to the effect this was MSDN licensed and ultimately I would have to contact the seller. I do not recommend this deal.

When you buy it, make sure you are ready to activate right away. I waited a couple of hours and got an error that the code was already used. Contacted support and they sent me a new code.
Total was 27ish.

For Office 2021. It's basically saying this is a license key for this product that will continue to receive updates such as security patches for as long as its supported (probably 2025ish) instead of the shitty subscription-based Office 365 model.

They're grey market keys. Only way that they could be selling these at such a low price. They'll probably work, but you're also buying stolen keys or keys that were purchased with stolen credit card numbers.

For regular price, it's hard to justify the standalone version because by the time your subscription costs equal the cost of the standalone, you would've gotten many years of usage and feature updates. Or you're the type to stick with a single version for a very long time. Like t hose people still using Office 2003 or 2007.

actually, Office 2019 didn't have the collaboration features. maybe that doesn't mean anything for you but for many groups of people who work on documents together, it means a lot.

you aren't entitled to future versions of the software. You get to "own" Office 2021 indefinitely and that's it (and security updates). No feature updates. No upgrades.
