Funny. Just bought this last night with the 20$ off coupon. Reached out to newegg on the chat, and they quickly price-matched the extra 10 bucks. Sweet!

Bang for the buck in straight % the 5600 non-X is a better deal.... 10% more $ for the X and the X will give you like 1.5-3% more performance (in anything that is CPU bound in the first place- won't matter at all with stuff like 4k/ultra gaming).

Alright, gonna gamble on this one. Looks like there is beta support for my B350 Tomahawk. Hopefully this will be a nice upgrade from my R5 1600

Register for the coupon using a friend's email and phone number. Have them print out the coupon and take that with you to the store. Worked like a charm for me a couple of months ago.

It helps if your friend will never ever set foot in a MC in the future.

The new 5600 is PCIe 4.0 compat, just came out in april, not sure about the new 5500.

5600g and 5600x only see PCIe 3.0

yesterday newegg had the 5600 for 199 minus 15 coupon = 185+tax

According to AMDs website the 5600x is PCIe 4.0 compatible. It will need a b550 board or better.

I believe most of those benchmarks putting 5600 and X even have them both OC'd. If you're not planning to OC the X has a bit better value. Whether it's worth an extra $20 or so is your call, if you're spending the money for an upgrade over a 2600 or 3600 any bit of margin helps. If you're running some old Intel thing from three gens ago then it'll be a huge upgrade either way.
