.. sort of.. it would require a new motherboard.... if you pick a board with DD4 then you can probably recycle your RAM..
also must run windows 11..

Note #2: MSI Pro Z690A DRR4 is widely regarded as a good cheap overclocking board at $220.

Note #3: I'd only do it if you have a 10600K or lower. It would be a substantial upgrade from the high end processors, but probably not worth $560 unless you are really cpu limited and have a high end gpu.

Here is your right answer: if you are asking if you can just take out the 10th gen cpu and replace it with this cpu on the same motherboard the answer is no you can't. They are different sockets. The advantage of this cpu is that you can use DDR4 or DDR5 so it all depends on your wallet. In regards of the Windows. It's not mandatory but trust me windows 11 knows how to get advantage of these newest cpus. Windows 10 will probably get you frustrated more than Windows 11.

yeah but you do actually have to have windows 11 for this CPU. The 12500K AND higher chips have a mixed processor design. They have both P and E cores in the CPU. The thread schedulers in windows 10 do not know how to use this chip design. You will only get use of the P cores, and you could incur some other oddities. (This design is also screwy in linux atm.) The new thread scheduler in windows 11 will use P and E cores. In windows 10 this CPU will perform pretty on par with the 175$ 12400. The 12400 only has P cores which is similar to all the prior intel chips. It will run in windows 10.

The 10th gen intel and 11th gen used socket LGA 1200. The new intel cpu uses socket LGA 1700.. So as i said it is not a drop in replacement.
Also beware the new intel motherboards are a zoo.. not just chipsets but for example the cheapo asrock B660 has an under designed power regulation system. You can't put higher draw chips into the board or it will underclock them. Even when the board says it supports the higher chip...

I would avoid AsRock boards altogether unless it's the high end models. Steel legend, Extreme, etc are technically all budget models and they crap out rather often. I've owned steel legend and extreme4 before, and I highly recommend going with another manufacturer within the similar price range..there are so many other options available
