Step 1) Buy LG V30 on eBay for $50 in flawless condition

Step 2) Root it and install Android 11 on it

Step 3) Enjoy all the features it has that are better than the Nord N200

Step 4) Instead of buying a yearly plan for ~$15/month through an MVNO, pay T-Mobile ludicrous amounts for their garbage plans so you can get a statement credit and a new Oneplus Nord N200.

Hard pass.

You'll still have to pay shipping and tax on the new phone. Comes out to $20-$30 depending on your sales tax. Just FYI

Since they just took down 3G, I think that's going to be a while.

You have to be on a T-Mobile plan to take advantage of this "free" phone (that requires you to trade in a phone first). T-mobile has garbage coverage outside of cities. Also, from T-Mobile's own website, MM costs between 47-57$ per line per month.
That's so ridiculously untrue. We live in the sticks and have T-Mobile phones and internet. Works fine. I also travel all over. Including international. I have a Verizon line for work. In some places one is better and in some the other is.

Deal Variant for legacy pre paid!!!
I did the trade in and paid Zero !!! and got the Nord 200 5G. that's right no fees or shipping etc.
I had to go to a corporate store to do the deal where a sharp employee found it in the system. A regular store clerk said I dont know how to do the deal!! find the corporate store near you.
I got lucky where many have not. The deal is for those who get the T Mobile text mentioning the imei of the phone to be traded in and free 5g offer!! expiring July 1. not positive on the date.

Is one required to enroll monthly service plan for 24 months? If so, what is the monthly service charge?

Last time this deal was around I traded one of my old lg flip phones, just had to come with a charger and power on. My Dad lost his phone so this was a cheap replacement and works for his needs.

Just read the details on this current deal:
https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...=TMDesktop
Trade in any undamaged, functioning cell phone.
Purchase a new OnePlus N200 5G on a monthly payment plan and pay applicable sales tax on pre-credit price at time of purchase.
Receive 24 monthly bill credits totaling $216.00

Is the Nord even worth getting locked out of these types of promotions for 2 years?

I could not agree more. While this is not for everyone, I think there's plenty of folks who can definitely benefit from these free with any trade promos especially since they don't require adding a line. My kids are using these same free phones from the last deal and they are working out pretty well for my family.
I'd love a tutorial on how to get MMax for $15/line. That's what I'm paying for prepaid.

Yes, you must be a T-Mobile customer for 24 months to receive the 24 bill credits ($9/mo promotional credit on the $9/mo financed phone) to make the phone "free". So yes, you need to have a T-Mobile account and be paying for service. If you're not an existing customer and am asking about signing up for T-Mobile service just to take advantage of this free phone offer, don't bother. There are better phone promotions for new accounts and new lines. Plan prices vary depending on what you want, what discounts are available to you (55 older, military, etc.?); go to www.t-mobile.com and look under Plans for the various options.

You're not locked out of promotions for 2 years. Simply pay off the Nord N200 balance and sign up for any new promotion. You'll still get the Nord N200 bill credits through the life of this promotion. "If you pay off your EIP early, you'll continue to receive the promised Recurring Device Credits (R... [t-mobile.com]." I'm currently receiving 3 promotional credits associated with one of my family plan lines.

Yeah, been waiting for the Nord200 to sell out so T-Mobile can move on to the next offering. Holding out for something better. LOL.
Their next best thing will likely be their Revvl devices (again) for this promo.

Tutorial is time capsule back to 2020, sign up for family plan with 20% insider discount and third line free. And then slowly lower your per line cost by signing up for all of the free lines that were given out over the 1-2 year period as they came up (presumably when T-Mobile was intent on boosting their subscriber numbers).

Here's four of those free line threads and I'm sure I'm missing at least one or two more. 1, 2, 3, 4.

Edit: I should add that you can sign up for Magenta Max today, get a third line free, and possibly the insider discount ... this would put you in the exact same spot as the person with the $15/line Magenta Max plan when that person signed up (when his/her plan was not $15/line yet). No way to know if a flurry of free lines will be offered in the future (unlikely) but neither did that person know he/she would get a bunch of free lines when he/she signed up back in 2020. Also I have no idea what the status of the current insider discount offers are so it may or may not be available; search Hot Deals or Deal Talk to research.

That is probably the best and most concise summary of the T-Mobile tutorial posted on this site. Well done.

Lol, some of us pay less than $15 per line for Magenta Max. So for me, everything you said above is garbage. I grab these "free with any trade" phones just to have as backup or to use as wifi devices around the house. Since I'm on MMax, and not an MVNO, I also grab free with trade flagship phones as well. Since I feel I have a good deal on my plan, I never go griping about bill credits or being locked down for 24 months. . .as it doesn't matter to me
I am on One Plus and 4 lines for 120.. Badly want to move on to Magenta Max 🙂
