lr;dr - The new controller Samsung switched to on latest shipments is actually preferable to the old controller.
Although I do have to wonder if they're still using the inferior/slower controller they sort of secretly switched to last year. I haven't seen an update since this was published.

My other XPG 4TB in my laptop only showing 30-35°C temp at any given moment, idling or intense work.
Although I do have to wonder if they're still using the inferior/slower controller they sort of secretly switched to last year. I haven't seen an update since this was published.

Then...read the updated review on arstechnica (https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2...plus-ssds/) about the controller swap and then the above post regarding operating temps. Was planning on upgrading my LG Gram which I don't believe will accommodate a heat sink (its an "ultrabook"). Just cancelled the order.

Had couple of bad experiences with them, one time bought new phone and when it arrived it was clearly used and abused,it was a struggle to return and get full refund for it.
