Nearly as powerful as 5600x, this is great value for what you get!

Better deal as the i5-12400 has an IGP (GPU) same performance and the motherboards support future generations while AM4 is end of life now.

Would microcenter price match this and add the 50 off coupon if that's still a thing?

Microcenter had a $50 coupon that made the 5600x this price. Not sure if it is still active. They don't price match after coupon prices.

Still active https://www.microcenter.com/site/...ercpu.aspx

Damn this is super tempting.
Got a 3400G and the performance bump would be quite nice.

This is the online deal I've been waiting for! (Since there is no microcenter near me.) Well actually I ideally wanted the 5600 or 5600X for $150, but that might take another year. $160 new is close enough… thanks OP!

It would be as long as you do not need the onboard GPU. That and the 3400g still has some good value, esp for those that need the onboard GPU.

I went from a Zen+, 2700x, to a 5600x and it was a noticeable upgrade.

You would lose integrated graphics though, if you dont have an dedicated GPU the 5600g is currently on sale for $180 on amazon. Obviously make sure your motherboard supports it though.

Yup, pulled the trigger and ordered it. Don't need the onboard GPU as I have a dedicated card.

I just ordered this last Friday and just got it delivered yesterday. Anyone know if Newegg price matches themselves?
The difference would be $24.

Unless you absolutely need to save the $20 i think the 5600g at $180 is better value since it has a higher base clock and the same boost clock. At least in the future it can be relegated to office pc work without the need of a dGpu. The 5600 is still a great choice though, but just like Intel 'f' sku's, i dont feel the tiny bit of money saved is worth it. Especially if you have gpu issues and you need a display out to do investigations.
5600G only has 16 MB of L3 cache, 5600 has 32 MB. For gaming purposes or any cache heavy applications the 5600 will be faster.

5600 has 32 MB L3 cache and supports PCIe 4.0.
5600G has 16 MB L3 cache and supports PCIe 3.0.
The base clock doesn't really matter because the CPU will automatically boost cores up to the max boost frequency with the PBO2 feature until it reaches power or thermal limits.
