Plug in a Roku Streaming Stick and call it a day
Consumer reports data actually shows that TVs in the same price band have very similar reliability. Meaning if you buy an $800 Hisense vs an $800 Samsung (or whatever brand) the reliability is pretty much the same.

Your analogy of stepping up to an S class is true. If you bought this tv compared to a $2000 Samsung, the Samsung would likely last longer. But if you bought this tv compared to a $500 Samsung, the Hisense would likely last longer.

It's all about the price point, not brand necessarily.
This is the lowest it's been. This matches PC Richard & Son's price from a couple of weeks ago.

Is the Sony 55" A80j OLED a better buy at $1000 compared to this set at $800?
A80J is a better set, especially if you value PQ. If you need the extra 10 inches, are concerned about screen burn-in or need a tv to overpower the sun, U8G maybe a better buy

I had this TV and returned it. I don't believe all units suffer from these issues but mine had terrible black crushing and ghosting issues and blurry text even with firmware updates. I would buy this with the understanding that it potentially has issues you may be or may not be able to live with.

I read those differences and wondered the same, but it would take an idealized viewing situation to benefit from it. U8G has better reflection handling and my TV is in a bright room so I'm very happy with it in both reflection handling and the ability of the brightness to overcome the light.
I think brightness/bright-room is one of the best examples of getting better value from the U8G so it seems you made the right call.

the u7g I ordered will arrive tomorrow - probably too late for this deal but you never know. I can post here what I think if people care. I have a 5-year old TCL 6-series and an LG C1 so quite the range of competition haha

I bought this from Amazon couple of months back. Deep blacks and has great quality. Good for gaming and movies.

I searched secondipity for a LG C1 OLED but found 0. But I found a lottttt of Sony units. Not the most scientific piece of info but take that for what it's worth .... maybe some reliability issues with the Sony's? (or maybe I am just bad at searching secondipity? lol)

If you want to learn anything about TVs do NOT EVER watch QuantumTV

In addition to the guy being a complete moron he is racist bigot that makes your die hard Trump fans look like school children

HDTVTest is the gold standard for TV reviews, then I would check forums for TVs maybe Reddit last.

At $800, this is not a good price for a TV unless you are using it as a side or extra TV.

Bough a HiSense 65" 1.5 years ago for a side room and it was junk, i would never want to watch regular TV on it.

Spend the extra $400-450 and buy the LG C1 65" or wait on a deal for the 65" A80J
I've had mine for 8 months, stop being so negative, all of you. To me it's the best picture quality and features of any TV I've owned yet let alone features of almost any other sets out there. Why be negative when most negative replies have never seen the picture of this set. Best bang for the dollar PERIOD. Follow link below:

I have had the U8G for six months and love the picture. The brightness and contrast are stunning. My only complaint is when you turn off the microphone switch, four obnoxious LEDs appear at the bottom of the screen. Can't turn them off
