If you are actually going to use the account or can auto pay some bills with debit, you might consider Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union. 3.3% for up to $20k balance with 15 debit transactions and a monthly dd. The dd can be a deposit from almost any bank. I auto-transfer in $10 from ally monthly and have the cable bill to autopay $2, 15 times a month to earn the preferred rate.
Boo...
Bonuses are for people who don't have existing Chase checking or savings accounts, or those whose accounts have not been closed within the last 90 days. Keep in mind, you can receive only one new checking and one new savings account opening related bonus every two years from the last coupon enrollment date and only one bonus per account.
Left Chase earlier this year for Sofi because of the sign up bonuses and interest rates.
Sofi currently has a 1.8% interest rate on both checking and savings and Chase still has a 0.01% Savings interest rate even after all the Fed hikes.
Obviously the Chase bonus is great for bonus churners and the people who actually go into banks in 2022 but I'm not switching back for 0.01%.

Don't need referal to get 1.8%. Keep in mind they are giving good rates and fluctuate too due to fed rates. But their CC support is ameture. Though it is attractive incentive for CC. But no good support.
Sorry, I should've been more specific...looking for a zero fees account for a friend who lives in Canada (and is a senior..if that helps) but wants the convenience of a US bank account when visiting the US....she had a Chase account which charged $4.99 a month regardless unless balance was over $1500....she didn't use the account for a long time due to covid and was hit with all the service charges...got a bunch removed, but still would like a true NO FEES account with no minimum balance requirement if possible....will this 5th 3rd work? Maybe I could open a joint account there?...or open my own account and refer her for a referral bonus? haha lol
We can't open an account based on the information provided. Didn't have any account with Chase last One year, I used to have credit card from them a year ago. My credit is good.
Again it's great for churners. But the majority of people are not going to jump from bank to bank, set up a new direct deposit and transfer large sums of money around for $600.
Which I suppose is exactly what Chase is counting on. It's a good deal if you are prepared to jump again after 90 days otherwise you are getting nothing from that awful 0.01% interest on a savings account.
It took me 5 minutes to open account, transfer money into savings and open work webpage to setup direct deposit. Granted I have chase credit cards and a brokerage account which prefilled all info, it still is well worth my time. I do not need the $600, but only an idiot will turn down free money

Not sure if anyone else responded to this. There's a bank called TD Bank. I opened a checking account for my Dad, and the fees are waived because he's senior (65+). Not sure if they have this bank in Canada. You can probably check though. Also if under 65, the minimum to keep in the account is $100 for waived fees
Wellsfargo has a limitation of ACH credits of 10k per day and 50k per month, as listed in deposit agreement. They will reject credit of funds for higher amounts for sure (may be debit as well).
Does anyone know what are such limits with Chase?

That's not true, there is always a way to get around the fee.
