Verizon Wireless - $800 trade in value towards Samsung phones (Z Fold 4 / Flip 4 / variations of S22)

Verizon Wireless is offering a flat $800 trade in value towards select Samsung phones including the Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, S22 ultra, S22 plus, S22, and S21 FE 5G ($700 credit as MSRP is $699.99), with select 5G unlimited plans (including the lowest tier 5G start). This applies for new lines and upgrade eligible lines. $800 credit is applied over 36 months. If switching, you are also eligible for another $200.

While many phones on VZW seem to have "get up to $800 off with trade", these Samsung phones say simply "get $800 off with trade"

I was able to submit for $800 trade in value using some really old phones including an iPhone 6s and Galaxy S7 Edge. I am an existing customer that was upgrade eligible for multiple lines.

How did you sign up without upgrading or adding a new line? 2 or 3 years?
Clarification: There was one line on the account that was recently upgraded about a month ago. The whole S22 Ultra purchase via Samsung's site did require that line/phone to be upgraded, but that trade-in was via Samsung's site. When I went through the options to trade-in the S7 Edge, which was about a week later, I didn't have to select a line to upgrade or provide a particular line - I just selected to trade in the phone. (I'll clarify my original post)

Will the new S23 phones have an $800 trade in credit as well?

What device did you buy and when was the order date? Ask them to check for all promotions active at the time you placed the order. Remind them that the $400 value is the current promotion but you placed the order when there was another promotion that have since expired and you should eligible for active promotions for when you place the order, not when you submitted the trade in device if done within 30 days of new device activation.

As a reminder stay calm, cool, and courteous with the rep. That's the most effective way to get them to help you as you guide them to try and help you on a task they don't normally perform on a day-to-day basis.

If the trade in department is being difficult call customer care at 611. Yes you'll have to repeat your situation but the care rep can be your advocate when they reach out to trade in to help assist with your issue.

I know all of this is frustrating and you are spending a lot of time trying to resolve this issue but stay persistent and you should be able to get them to honor the trade in value.

For your reference these were the trade in values on 8/23:

S22 series: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...4515081836 [archive.org]
Flip4/Fold4: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...7009745305 [archive.org]
Thank you for the details. I bought the s22+ and the order date was Sept 7. They said there was not a promotion and $400 was my option. They were rather unhelpful. I have tried twice and both times they say I traded in the wrong phone even though the IMEI completely says otherwise. I'm to the point of filling an FCC complaint on it. Thank you for the webarchives too! Not sure if I should try a 3rd time here or just go the complaint route

How long does it take for Verizon to evaluate your trade-in phone? Mine was delivered last Wednesday, still no update so far.

Congrats. I believe you should be fine and if not it'll just be another hassle to deal with but you should be able to ultimately get it with more customer support contact. The trade-in correction is a manual correction so it wouldn't necessarily show with the automated emails. I've gone through the same thing in a past experience.
Things turned out to be better than expected. Got an email from Verizon saying my trade-in device value had to be adjusted Applause

"The device didn't meet all the requirements of the original trade-in estimate, so the actual trade-in value had to be adjusted.

Promotions and discounts
Estimated trade-in value: $8.33/mo for 24 months
Final trade-in value: $33.33/mo for 24 months
Submission ID:
Make/Model: LG/LG V30 in Black LS998"

My confirm also said $33.33 for 24 mo., but the credits have actually started and I'm getting the expected $22.22 for 36 mo. Still $800. I don't think the 24 month term is even a thing.

Yeah, the actual credits are still spread over 36 months. Verizon has never bothered to update their email templates.

Verizon avg $75/mo for at least 35GB unlimited and hotspot

Metro $24/mo for at least 35GB unlimited and hotspot , 4 lines
excluding value for prime and Google One

In 36 months this free phone will cost $1100 more than Metro

In the same boat and I hate to lose micro SD and headphone jack. Both have been a lifesaver in a pinch, work calls, interviews, travel.

Well, after way too much time on the phone with Verizon: She verified all my information and tried to claim the phone was a different phone and not eligible. I mentioned I took pictures of the phone and the settings, plus the imei can be validated via putting the imei number into any imei checking website where it shows an Aristo 5. She put me on hold again to talk to someone (30+ minutes). Then started telling me it was a 'low tier' and only eligible for $400. I have had to go back and forth with her on it. She said she can't find the promotion for the $800 and is claiming that it is $400, even though my emails and their own website says "estimated trade in value: $800". Ugh.
Just to close my saga, Verizon continued to be zero help after multiple reach outs. I eventually filed an FCC complaint, BBB complaint, an AG complaint for my state, and an executive relations complaint. Of course, they reached out to me within hours of my complaints and fixed the situation. It is a joke it has to go this far for them to uphold their own terms. My only thought is whoever did my trade-in at verizon entered my information wrong which messed up a bunch of things. Advice to anyone: document document document. Next time I also won't bother with more than one attempt to give them to fix it. It is clear their CS reps have no clue how to fix things when something like this happens. Their default is "it will be fixed on the next cycle".

i had to go thru the same issue. My phone even had a model # (not name) & imei sticker on back and they claimed the same. got stalled for a week or so with "we will fix it" after i informed them i had pics and even box that shows all info. After second phone call someone more diligent checked everything and confirmed the imei matched and finally fixed it. Looks like all tradeins are run by lazy/scammers and the unlucky few will have to fight it out like us. But it worked. big thanks to OP & my man silow.
