Was $265 back in Sept 2020 when I got it. Which taking inflation into account, is the same price as today without the total tech. Worth getting now to avoid the long waits for install during the winter.

I believe it is lifetime warranty as long as you have the papers. You can take it to them to get it checked.

I came here to say compustar is a good brand. I don't buy from Best Buy.

Also they quit fulfilling my ps5 orders and self vigilantes kept canceling my ps5's when ready for pick up, granted I got like 20 of them over time.

The employees shouldn't get to cancel peoples order, I placed the order it should be fulfilled. Nope my store basically banned me from picking up any electronics, gpu's, Xbox's ps5 etc

So they can suck it

Total tech is full on rip. They hiked prices up, now charge total tech, to bring prices to where they was. I've pretty much shunned bb here on out
Total Tech is a great deal for some people, and a rip off for others.

It's an amazing deal for homeowners, specifically ones who are buying new appliances, as delivery and installation is included w the membership. It's also great for people who buy a lot of products, or anyone who buys an iPhone at Best Buy, since it comes with free 2 year warranties, and Apple Care for iPhone buyers.

It's not a good deal for your occasional Best Buy shopper, or someone who only buys small things like video games that don't need any kind of warranty.

Would this replace the need to carry the key fob for an Acura to start it inside or would we need to have both fobs? Description says it replaces lock/unlock and was curious on push button start. Thanks if anyone has experience. (Lost a FOB and dealer wants $400 - seems like this could be a solid replacement/upgrade)
You still need your factory fob for push button start unfortunately.

Screw people with manual transmissions I guess... I mean I kinda get why, but at the same time, I imagine anyone with a manual would know not to put it in gear if they plan on using this.

edit: looks like people misunderstood my remark. The description says "Cool your car with automatic transmission from afar with this CompuStar remote starter bundle." and further down it says "Compatible Vehicle Transmission Type Automatic".
In my experience it's not so much the owner, but if I pick up my car after a service, they usually put it in gear instead of using the parking brake.

exactly. i purchased a 14inch macbook pro in dec of 2021 and they offered me total tech of $200. I declined and went with applecare at the time of $279 because 1.) I was able to use $70 reward and 2.) I thought for $210, i am getting 3 years of drop/screen coverage vs only 1 year with total tech. But than about 4 months later, i purchased an apple watch at bestbuy and now had to buy applecare again for $79. If i had to buy applecare at regular price, i'd be at $360 - almost the cost of 2 years of total tech. Assuming in the next 1.5 years, i purchase one more product at bestbuy with the intention of purchasing the extended warranty - i would have been much better off buying total tech.

of course, there is no way to know this though at the time as you don't know what your future self will purchase in the present.

but if i had kids or a family and i know i was going to buy 2-3 iphones each with applecare, total tech would make way more sense than buying applecare individually for each product, and the assumption is they may want ipads, or laptops, and you may need a fridge, or dishwasher, or oh god the laundry, you need a damn good laundry and dryer otherwise the clothes pile up and the kids burry you - they burry you in bibs and onesies and they just look at you and spit up on their bib and onesie and the cycle starts all over again.

Out of curiosity, what are the biggest benefits from this?
Defrosting your car during mornings or snowstorm if your car is outside. 100% worth it and BestBuy will move it to your next vehicle free if installed by BestBuy.

Bought one this past Feb on a deal.. installed it on my GX470 as it was a cheap then on a limited time deal at 269.99I... has worked flawless..

Your install will only be as good as your installer.

For reference I did installs for 10yrs as a professional. I could have bought and did myself, but for the price difference and what I value my time, this was cheaper.

Have this and it works great on GM vehicles and Audi. Audi will need new key, which cost me about $300. I had to get the install adjusted at a non Best Buy shop, since the bb folks couldn't get it to work right. That was $50 and no problems since.

I got this for my car last year on a similar deal. But I got another today for my wife's car. It's a great starter and works from a very far distance. Two city blocks, with buildings in the way.

sorry to digress from here.

Does anyone know if we can split the power line (on the front window to the remote start sensor) into two line? one line for remote start, the other one for a separate dashcam? If doable, that would be an easy way to install a dashcam next to the remote start sensor.

Thanks

Like others, I got one of these exact remote starters about 4 years ago for another vehicle and just grabbed another one today for one of my current vehicles. I was very happy with it the first time around and my friend still drives that vehicle and has had no problems with it after 4 years.
