Worst part is I used to have one. Probably got rid of it with the standard "I'm never going to use this..." statement. Then a month later of course I find out I could have used it.

About half a decade ago, I decided to copy all the DVD-Rs I'd burned in the early 2000s onto a single big HDD. So many of them couldn't read with uncorrectable errors. I've also had so many DVD, CD, and even MD hardware go bad to where they can't read a disc. I've had more trouble with optical media than mid-2000s Seagate HDDs, and that's saying a lot.
I'm glad optical media is dead. Good riddance.
