Bought this exact drive a few months back, because my Blu Ray burner would not rip some old DVD's that I wanted to add to Plex. This works flawlessly if you need to do any old school ripping / burning.

Actually no, but it IS undoubtedly good to have backups in 2 places ! A good cloud service works and you barely have to worry about it. CD's or DVD, you need to be careful of those cheapo blanks, that "de-laminate" themselves or get warped easily. Just make sure you backup your data to 2 places !!!!
