I picked up my TV this morning and I have some advice based on my experience:

First - DO NOT UPDATE THE TV IF IT COMES WITH FIRMWARE 1098 OR 1211 INSTALLED. I would highly recommend avoiding the Wi-Fi setup all together to ensure this. If you do setup Wi-Fi (which you shouldn't because Tizen is an awful operating system in the first place), make sure to go into the setting immediately and ensure auto updates are off. YouTube has a lot of info on the firmware situation.

Second - You absolutely need a second (or third person) to help. Make sure you follow the unboxing instructions to the letter of the word. There are a lot of horror stories about people bending their units because of how thin the panel is, and the hoops you have to jump through to install the foot base. You absolutely need a flat and padded surface to lay the TV on. We used an inflatable mattress and a microfiber blanket.

Third - As an add-on comment, I highly recommend picking up an Apple TV, Nvidia Shield, or 4K Chromecast. Tizen UI is horrendous, slow, and has ads. Other than that, this TV is incredible for the price.

Your comment cannot be blank.

Aren't we already in a recession according to objective measures?
I think companies are unloading inventory across the board, in case there is a recession next year.
Nice! I'm still going to wait more since every month is dropping price little by little

Whichever is cheapest. That's the bottom line.. Dolby vision is a royalty scheme manufacturers have to pay for each TV sold. I actually hope Samsung keeps resisting Dolby! No one can tell the difference between DV and HDR10... Now Google is trying to enter the space with their own codex but it will be royalty free (for how long if they gain traction though!?!)

They pay 1-3 dollars per tv is what I read for Dolby Vision. On my G1 I wouldn't say the picture "pops" in DV but it sure does make peoples skin look real clear. Samsung and Dolby vision is like Bose not wanting to pay for the aptx codec. Bose says they don't need it but once you've had a pair of headphones with it and you hear the difference it makes it makes you not want to buy headphones that don't have it. And I don't. So I understand people not wanting a Samsung because they don't support DV. If the pic quality on the Samsung is this good then it would be even better with Dolby Vision. Just Samsung being cheap. I'm sure we as costumers would pay $3 more for a tv to get Dolby Vision.

My first one didn't have the white tab in the corner that was attached to the screen protector film and I messed up the anti glare coating, that stuff will peel off ruining the tv. Ask me how I know Mad
Wait, you ruined it trying to take it off? Or by leaving it on?

It's brighter than any previous oled

There is also qled tech which is very bright

Samsung reducing peak brightness on this set doesn't affect much because it was for hdr peaks. The normal viewing didn't take a hit.

For color accuracy, updating is the smartest thing to do. Anyone hanging out on previous firmwares is doing themselves a disservice.

If you're putting in this in an overly bright room the qled is the way to go. If you're able to control room brightness, this qd-oled is the best you can do
Agree with all of this.

Although, some people like myself don't want the most accurate picture possible. Mine is on a bright room with 3 big windows. So brightness is key for me. I want more pop if anything from my picture and as long as my reds don't look like blood orange I'm good.

Just like my audio. Sometimes I want analytical flat boring sounding headphones and other times I just want tons of sub bass and mid bass.

I watched a couple unboxing videos while I was waiting for my TV and they all had a protective film on the screen they pulled off, well Samsung sent me a tv without the film and I mistakenly thought the film was the anti glare film and peeled most of it off instead... Luckily Samsung customer service was good about my mistake and let me return it.... Although looking back think they may have sent me used TV. The replacement set did have a white tab in the corner that was attached to the film your supposed to remove, interestingly the protective film and the anti glare film were very similar in thickness.

Does anyone know what firmware is coming on sets you'd buy directly from Samsung today?
