I had a Pixel 4 XL with an aged battery, got a $320 trade in value and that got me a $343 refund (they refunded some tax too) on a $655 Pixel 7 ($599 plus tax). On that deal I also received a $100 BB gift card. So it was $312 net investment. If I turn around and sell it at $450, I make instant $138, plus the gift card that BB gave me. I could NOT have sold that Pixel 4 XL for $138, it was trash. For the record I'm using that Pixel 7 right now, it's awesome.
This promo turned some trash into money. That's why swappa is flooded, but from my perspective it's a win for customers and a win for people with semi-old phones.
RIP environment though
