I own the 14" and have commented on it being a great laptop previously. It's still going strong after 1.5 years as my primary personal laptop and handles PD and DP (dual monitor via a hub) via USB C just fine. Yes it is clunky, but there really isn't anything comparable in the price range for the specs that you're getting.
Gateway is cheap/low end brand
Was interested in this until I saw reviews. Why do so many complain about the screen coming off??? No thanks.

Just FYI. One guy in the other thread for this deal had trouble with having it plugged in 24/7. The battery expanded and started popping out of the case. This was the original plan of the folks I got this for, but they end up now unplugging and using it more limited plugged in. Definitely does all the basics very well. I had to set it up for them and it worked quite fast and could do multiple things at once at least with no issues. As long as it lasts its a perfect computer for basic use.
I was curious about this as well. Thinking about getting it for my parents, but was wondering if the laptop does direct pass-through when plugged in. (Some laptops work while plugged in even without a battery, while others don't)

So the issue here is that the battery is internal not external so it cannot just be removed while plugged in. (if that is what you are referring to) it would have really solved this potential issue if it was because i would have just had them remove the battery. However, you would have to take off the case to get to the battery and I did not experiment whatsoever with opening it up to see what was there.

Edit: I will also add they are really happy with it so far. So I do think this is probably a perfect little computer for the elderly at an affordable price as long as the battery issues remain an anecdote and not a pattern. What I was most surprised at was that they were fine with a 14.1" screen vs the 24"+ screen they were used to using.

So, I've got the Gateway 14.1" Ultra Slim Notebook, GWTN141-10BL, and yet, if it's essentially the same as the GWTN141-10GR, doesn't it look like both M.2 slots support M.2 NVMe? I mean, NVMe is in the bios, and so, just take a look at the link below.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Wal...ml#7819384

From the above link, which is also a picture of the GWTN141-10GR motherboard, it does look like a M.2 NVMe drive will fit, am I right? Can anyone confirm this, for sure?

So you can't expand the memory?
Are you serious? you want to upgrade to 32gb of memory in a $279 laptop??? 16gb is good, save the 32gb for a custom desktop build.

14" is 4 lb., 15" is 4.8 lb. So quite heavy 4 size.

Solid deal for $300 new. Gonna test out the 15" model with the TDP modification. Bought one yesterday, estimated delivery in two days. With the mod, it should handle 1080p med/low settings, light video editing and music production (Ableton, Serato, etc).

I bought one of the infamous Evoo Gaming Walmart laptops two years ago (open box, $650 off ebay, LP4 model, FHD 144hz, i7-9750H, 16gb 2933, GTX 1650), switched to Win11 and it worked fine for over a year before one of the updates the last couple months killed my audio. Can't figure out how to fix it so might have to do clean install unfortunately.

My desktop is ASUS PN50 mini pc Ryzen 4500U (Vega graphics apu) barebone I built for $650 w/ 16gb 3200, 500gb nvme and 1tb ssd storage.

All of these units have comparable performance in the geekbench ~1000 single core, ~4000 multi-core range. The Intel Xe graphics on Gateway worst of the bunch.

For $300, this Gateway hangs w/ competitors over twice the price. BF might have some better options but free two-day shipping and 30 day in-store return policy got me to bite now.

not bad as long as you don't plan to upgrade anything and don't mind no backlit keys. The m2 slots in the 14in only use msata and cannot use nvme m2 ssd.

At least the type c does have DP and PD. Also HDMI 2.0

Display Port is important to me. Are you sure the 15" has it? DP 1.2 or 1.4? Source?

My only concern is future bios and driver update support, esp for Win11, from Gateway/Acer considering the Evoo gaming laptop (same mfg) is no longer supported after only two years.

How's the fan noise while gaming? I didn't see that in the review.
