- Discover/Chase freedom for those 5% categories
- Altitude bank visa for Apple Pay/travel purchases. 3% back which is worth 4.5% when used for travel. Works at Costco too.
- Costco card for restaurants when I can't use above - 3%. But also use for Costco gas.
- Citi Double / Capital Venture when I can't use the above
- Amex Hilton for Hilton stays and when credit card warranty is important to me. Also Amex offers.
- Amex platinum / capital Venture for air tickets when getting the 5%.
I used to juggle that many cards around but it does get exhausting having to keep track of which cards give which bonuses, especially for the quarterly ones. Right now I'm trying to limit the number of cards in my wallet and pretty much just use the Wells Fargo Signature Visa because it has a pretty generous 3% CB on most of the categories I use (except groceries), plus since it's a Visa it works at Costco (where I get most of my groceries anyway). I still do use my Chase Freedom/Discover for when they have 5% back on gas/groceries/Apple pay.
I do have this Citi Double Cash and use it sometimes but I mostly got it for the Amazon pay with points promotions they run occasionally (usually around the holidays). 10/20/30/40% off with using 1 Citi point (always YMMV though).
Citi double cash for 2%
Apple pay for 2%
Discover (5% rotating)
Chase Flex (5% rotating)
Amazon Prime (5% back on amazon purchases)
Target (5% at target only)
You don't need to keep Target and Amazon card in wallet, save them in app.
Any easy way to convert premier to this card? Annual renewal is coming up and don't think it's worth $95 fee. Called once and was shot down saying, I don't have any offer on my account to downgrade. TIA.
Or is it like the Citi Custom Cash℠ Card where your top spend category would activate it for that category each quarter (like only groceries each quarter).?
I'm just trying to find if anything is better than Amex Blue Cash Preferred for 6% groceries until $6k = $360 1st year (2nd year is $95 annual fee = $265 reward) cash back per year on groceries. It basically comes out to about 4.5% cash back on groceries. But it's $6k max. For your card if it's only Jan-Mar, can't spend $6k in groceries in 3 months.
Word of caution, could just be me but I got this card last year and recently noticed that they have been charging me interest for several months, even though I'm within the promo period. They are looking into it.

I have setup a recurring deposit to Alliant savings each month, have a 1000$ account balance to meet the requirements of 2.5%

I use AMEX preferred for groceries and love it!
Doesn't matter, there's a million cards like this that have bonuses.
Someone used my Citi double cash on Wayfair and placed $4k in expenses about 2 months ago.
Called and got $2k immediately waved, the other $2k took about a week to get sorted because items were still in transit.
Citi reps didn't speak the most clear english but it all got covered eventually with little hassle.
