I don't think it's worth it. You can get an open box, M4 MacBook Air for a little more way faster more modern. In every way M1p is it just too old now

Even if this was a great price, which is not, it's a 4+ year old battery

This has a much brighter screen, it would be so much better for those who like using your laptop outdoors!

Just get the Neo.
Isn't that significantly worse, spec wise?

It depends on what you are actually using the machine for. But I'd say it's more than enough for most people. Now if you are wanting to do video edits and more taxing things you would want to go get a pro or Max chip. But overall the Neo is excellent for most people. Also if your edu it's $100 off and military gets some off also. It's not $100 I wanna say it's like $60 off or in that range. So it's really a very good deal for people in that boat. But if you're looking for powerful Mac the Neo isn't for you. But I am going to start buying the Neo for most of my end users. The specs are good and the processor is better than an m1 and the ram is almost double the speed of the m1 ram. I haven't looked at the hard drive speed but I'd assume it's a bit quicker than m1 also.

If specs were important then you wouldn't be looking at a 6 year old laptop lol

I think you have a point and it depends what features you care about.

Just a few days ago you could get an open box 13.3" M4 MacBook Air for just $121 more.

The MacBook Air M4 has faster single core performance, supports AV1 and VP9 video decoding, supports GPU features like hardware accelerated ray tracing, and has much faster NPU performance on quantized tasks.

However the MacBook Pro M1 Pro has a slightly larger, brighter display which supports 120Hz refresh rate, has active cooling for sustained performance, has higher GPU performance with more memory bandwidth, and has an additional thunderbolt port as well as an HDMI 2.0 port and SDXC card slot.

This is a better computer than the Neo for sure. Double the RAM is the big spec difference, but also double the storage, much better screen (120Hz, higher res, color accuracy), backlit keyboard, more I/O.

If you can add a cheap warranty, I'd go with this. The only downside would be potentially less battery health. My 4-year-old M1 Pro MBP is at 85% I think.
