Next gen M2 Macbook Pros likely being released in the fall. Some pros and cons, but if you're on the fence might want to research before pulling the trigger.

Not a chance apple is refreshing the pros already they haven't been out for a year even
Damn! That's $100 cheaper than ever before, surprised the prices on these are already this low. Bought mine a couple months ago for $1850. Retails for $2000.
Fwiw, it's such a pro class laptop that it supports max 2 displays! More or less any windows laptops with one third the cost can support 4 monitors.
Edit: my 2019 MacBook pro has 4 monitors connected, including a 4k tv. I think Apple tech progress is inversely related to their stock price gain.
this laptop is fantastic. stays fairly cool and quiet, and runs at full performance plugged in AND on battery.. has a mini led xdd promotion display that is 500 nits and goes up to like 1100, has top notch security and very good privacy without requiring putting in much time configuring it (apps are sandboxed, not as invasive as google/Microsoft), runs like butter, sips on the battery like Windows laptops can only hope...
yep, I got in on that deal. VERY impressed by this laptop. not only can you have a crazy number of browser tabs open, watch 2-3 high res videos in separate full screen virtual desktops, run Windows 11 in Parallels to play GTA V w/ CrossOver or CS:GO via Steam... it all runs quiet, cool, like butter, with pretty amazing battery life (made even better running in low power mode with minimal sacrifice).
you get more ports, better display (xdr, promotion), more powerful cpu/gpu, double the ram and SSD for not much more than a similarly ram/SSD capacity spec'd M2 Air.

no doubt they will run hotter and won't be a huge leap in performance.. main draw, to me, will be any new codec support in their encode/decode media engines, and perhaps even higher efficiency, which hopefully translates to slightly longer battery life. you will pay a premium though. but this means more deals to come on M1 Pros/Max, which will be a good opportunity for those looking for good deals and the least depreciation.
i will likely buy it. You don't like the Apple promo for 1850? with GC
The m2, MBA 16 gb, 256 for $1400 did not entice me when you can get this for 500 more.
Well you'd also want the 512gb SSD in the MBA, else you'd be getting the poor disk performance. Something like $1479 for the M2 Air 16/512.
I saved a few extra buck and got a certified excellent open box. Just arrived about an hour ago and it's mint. Warranty good till 8/1/2023. Prob left a little meat on the savings bone, but I'm happy with the deal.
