Who knows, but the quality is just as good....
I was slowly replacing my house switches for the last ~ 3 years with kasa devices and this is going to be my third and the last iteration after which the transition will be completed! By this point I own around 40 devices and I'll tell you that I had close to 0 issues with them. My garage switch randomly disconnected once and I had to reset it, thats it, no issues during 3 years of usage. The best part is that if you consider switching from alexa or google to home assistant OS - kasa devices use local pulling which means that all your devices will communicate over you local network and NOT through the cloud. This means insane response times and reliability plus no internet required to run automations. Highly recommend kasa products!

P.S. they did mess up big time with 3 way dimmer switches though. There are multiple issues with the first version that can't be fixed with firmware updates so make sure to buy the V2 version only. I already installed one and it works flawlessly.
I use the smart plugs for holiday lights, and have 4 Wi-Fi switches for outdoor lighting. They all work on schedules and are fantastic!

Kasa devices are great.... I have 35 active right now and they never give me any trouble

Do you have to use the Kasa app, or can I control them with Alexa?

I was talking solely about smart switches. And if you have an old ass house that has no neutrals in the in the switch boxes and you want smart switches, you're either paying for a switch or paying for an electrician to upgrade your wiring and guess which one is probably cheaper.

Regarding "neutral", are we talking about the white wire that runs with the black "hot" wire to every outlet?

Correct. There's different ways to wire a switch and one has no neutral in the box because it gets repurposed as a hot. This is no longer allowed in code but obviously anything pre-2017 could be wired this way.

I have a bunch of these and they generally work well. However, every couple of months the plugs would not work according to schedule, and I'd have to go into the Kasa app to resync the time. Do others have the same issue?

I have about 25 devices on Kasa - combo of mini plugs, smart strips, outdoor plugs for plant grow lights and now Christmas lights. Occasionally a tiny bit glitchy but 99% of the time work perfectly. Definitely recommend for anything that needs to be consistently turned on/off

TP-Link needs an outdoor plug with ENERGY MONITORING. I have to use the Kasa KP115 in an outdoor enclosure and plug a 2 outlet splitter, also within an outdoor enclosure to shield from rain and wind/fog/humidity just to be able to use some energy monitoring within the Kasa Eco System.

Lutron regular switches sure do require a neutral. I think the dimmers still don't. I learned this recently. Not sure why I need to pay $60 for a smart switch that needs a neutral
Wrong answer. Lutron has versions that do not require a neutral.

Or you are doing the rewiring yourself. It's not that hard.

I use this dimmer on my Christmas trees with mini and c9 incandescent lights. They work seamlessly with the app or with Alexa. I have them all on routines. 100% at sunset and 50% at 9pm. Works really well.

I have kasa smart plug but Idk why I have one and have no use for it. I know you can plug something there and program it to turn on and off with a schedule but that's all. It doesn't track watt usage either. I would prefer lights, at least they consume less energy and programmable for timing and colour. But it looks like they're not less than 5usd each now..

Using for 5+ years for holiday lights, pool filter, etc. Can schedule sunrise/ sunset, time(r)s, group. Had plugs and strips. Bought outlets (in wall) last week and they're even easier to setup once installed.

Not really sure if this is apples to apples but one I found to be a bit cheaper and with an additional outlet.
