This is a very slow USB drive. 190 MB/s read and 3 MB/s write speed. It's just fine if you want to back up files once in a while and let it run overnight but if you're looking to move large files quickly, do not buy this drive. Also, not good for streaming media.

This is actually the fastest USB 3.0 drive that I have. It's faster than my Lexar, TeamGroup, PNY (smallest form factor version), SanDisk.

The one I have is way back from 2014 though. I wonder if they changed out to inferior components for the newer ones.

I concur. Got the 64 GB back around Black Friday 2015 as it was a great deal at the time. It did the job but then few years later, when transferring data off of it, it decided to not also remove the data off the drive. My data was trapped on it despite (cutting and pasting) and could be formatted. At least it didn't lose my data, but yeah...underneath some car tires it went!

These lock to read only after a while. I used one in my car for MP3s and after a while I could no longer write to it.

these are worst drives I have ever purchased. We purchased like 10 of these. 3 were immediately DOA. 5 of them were completely unreliable. The remaining ended up failing over time.

PNY makes this same "body" in a wide range of capacities and speeds. This one, based on the listed specs, is very slow.

Wow, this drive is like 8 years old. I have it from 2 houses ago, and it's hot garbage. Tried using it to play movies from, and most devices don't even recognize it, and the one that does, you have to unplug and re-plug it in a dozen times. Speeds are terrible too. Thing gets red hot when moving files.

To the contrary, I own this and it's pretty fast. Not sure if what you received was a defective piece. This is hooked up to my tv and it plays full HD and 4k files seemlessly
