Why is it not worth the price? Let's start, https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...5886vs4134, by comparison with the i5-13600k, it is ranked 3 and 6 accordingly, only 6% faster average score and 7% faster overclocking. $380 to $280 at micro center, that is $100 more, plus taxes also on eBay. And if you are patient, you can you get the Z790-Plus TUF Gaming WiFi D4 motherboard free at micro center when they have the promotion, which comes often, for $300. That is why is not a good price, and since it doesn't have an integrated GPU, the i7 should be cheaper.

Kf could be a downside vs k, because k could be useful to use integrated graphics for troubleshooting.
I was pretty set on i5ā13600k, but this price has tempted me enough to pull the trigger on the i7. Upgrading from i5-4690k from 2014, so this should last awhile
price to performance, bang for buck, the i5-13600k still wins there though
Still loving my 4790k I bought on a black Friday special with EVGA classified z97 and a couple sticks of ram for like 300 dollars!
That was Newegg!
Where are those deals nowadays??

Oh man, I upgraded from a 4790K to a 12600k and what a difference! Now I have a 12700k (open box for $170 from microcenter, price mistake?) and sold the 12600k for $200 on Facebook marketplace a while back before the 13th gen intels released. You will enjoy this upgrade!
If you have a microcenter around you can get the one with the graphics integrated for $379 - $20 off a motherboard or -$25 off just hte cpu if you're a new customer.
Guys, is it true that Raptor Lake chips are actually pretty efficient and generate less heat IF you don't push them or OC them? This is because they have E cores which don't use much energy or generate much heat? But they will automatically go into turbo mode by switching to P cores and suck energy while burning it all down if you don't have a good cooling method to handle them?

I have a Noctua nh-d15 and i've only been using this CPU for less than a week and gaming on some really old titles (Yakuza Kiwami) at 1440p. Not a scientific measure by any means yet but my computer has not been a space heater and the fans haven't spun up to even more than half the max speed. I"m assuming it's not using all of the P cores to run this game. I would just recommend getting a decent cooler. either top of the line air cooling or one of those all in ones. I almost got an AIO Lian Li Galahad but realized i don't have time to fiddle around with the AIO's or deal with it if it fails. and heard that the pumps make an annoying noise when they are working.

That's great to know! What case do you have? I bought the nzht h1 v2 so I have to be careful with what I put in that case. It also comes with an AIO and power supply.

I have the LianLi Lancool 3. Cooling is very good on this case. it's basically swiss cheese on the front, top and back.
My setup
Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Ultra + Aorus 32GB ram - got this at newegg 3 weeks ago for $299
i7-13700K $355 at microcenter
Lian Li Lancool 3 $159 at microcenter
Noctua Nh-D15 $99
and then old (but not too old) parts from my old rig
RTX3070, Seasonic Platinum 650W power supply, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB +1TB
If I was in the market today for a Z790 build then a 13700K CPU would be my overall choice. It def gives the current AM5/Zen 4 lineup a run for its money according to benchmarks.

This is a great CPU. Haven't even upgraded my NVME or GPU and my desktop already feels faster.
