Installed a 1st gen Deco a few years ago in a 2 story, and it was poor.
I ended up replacing it with an Orbi, as one of their ring cameras would drop out with the Deco.
I have replaced quite a few of them, and for someone with 1g fiber AND 2 stories, this would be my first recommendation. Like an RBK50 2 piece system, depending on what your walls are made of.
My fiber went from avg 500mbps to 900mbps with just the swap in of the RBK50.
I even had one person tell me that their Netflix streaming PQ improved with the Orbi.
BF sale still valid on amaz B01K4CZOBS
Half the cost of what I originally paid.
Ordered another one for my sister for xmas.
good luck.

After using this for about a month, I can confirm this setup is awesome. Wired backhaul works perfectly. The app actually shows whether the points are wired or wireless so you can at least see it's configured correctly. Wireless speeds from my Apple devices (iPhone 13, iPad Pro) hit around the 600-700mbps which for wireless is ample.
Setup of these are incredibly easy. You don't need to pick a certain port or sync any of the devices. They just work when you power them on.
Don't let the cost and size of these fool you. They are really good.
Thinking about getting the X60 at Costco instead, but really don't know why...

Not sure if worth upgrade but I never regret buying this. Covers 2 floors above ground pretty well and also basement with no issues. We have 2 gaming PCs and one Xbox and tons of smart devices which occupy a bandwidth. Pretty great router
