Even though Fitbit has marked this "solved" it is not.
I appreciate that and I'm familiar with the reset process. I've been able to do that and that's how I know it's actually charging. I saw the screen glitch out right before the screen died, so it seems moisture or something finally got inside. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it opens up easily, but I haven't looked yet.
Wore a Charge 3... and then a Charge 4 for year. Both worked great and never gave me any issues. Cheap... reliable... and good (5 day) battery life. Just got the Amazon deal on the Sense 2 and am quite happy with it.
Wife has an Inspire 2 (replaced an Inspire HR that did die after 18 months, but was under extended warranty) that's been great as well... small, functional and 1 week battery life.

I feel they're junk because my $20 Chinese ebay watch has a 10x better battery life than the fitbit charge 5. The fitbit charge 5 band design is also really stupid mine fell off my wrist at work and I never found it. My mom wears a $40 Amazon bought (also Chinese made) smart watch with every feature the fitbit has and more as well as 5x better battery life. I'm glad you enjoy your fitbit though nothing wrong with that. I enjoyed my fitbit charge 2 the most though except the band had durability issues.
I definitely have to be mindful to not get a rash from this band. Usually have to take off for a few hours every few days and wash the band really well. (I take it off every day when I shower but only rinse the band then).
I have had a mi band 4 5 and 6. I have liked them way better than my wife's fitbits. They tend to be more flexible I.e. lots more different screen choices. But their software is a bit less polished
It's not a bird it's a reaction of the salts and moisture produced by your skin with your skin. Unfortunately most fitness trackers trap some of the moisture and salts underneath them when being worn. It is not unique to any particular fitness tracker for instance my wife has a Garmin venue to us and it causes her a lot of skin rash and "burn". Some people just have really sensitive wimpy skin.
Unfortunately it is the nature of fitness trackers to have a pretty tight fit with a smooth glass like surface
