Wow, been considering the C2 for $1,049 but at basically HALF the price, I cannot fathom why one would buy the C2 with this deal available. Granted, the C2 has some gaming features and gets brighter HDR but those aren't features worth doubling the price.

https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...shold=0.10 [rtings.com]

Nice deal.
I dont think you're wrong to choose the A2 for the price since it is a great deal on an OLED. I just wouldn't simplify it as you did.

The C2 Will have an Evo Panel about ~30% Brighter so more vibrant colors and better glare handling.
It'll also have a significantly better processor, for both video quality as well as the speed at which your Apps launch/run
Then finally it'll have 120 HZ Native for anyone who prioritizes Sports/Action/Gaming
Less importantly the 48" C2 will have a center base instead of legs. (Matters to some more than most)

Again not saying don't get the A2. I literally bought this model at this price for my Dads Christmas It's an amazing TV and there isn't a better TV to grab as your first step into OLED.
I'm just saying don't oversimplify the differences, It's twice the price for a more than just "Better gaming features"

Certainly. Just be aware of the auto dimming "feature"
You can purchase a LG service remote to turn off the annoying feature. Its called TPC in the service menu. Takes 5mins. Annoying that you cant do it with normal menu. Let your friends borrow the remote too.

Picked up my Open Box (Satisfactory) at my local store today. The box was kinda beat up, but it has the remote & stand, settings show 0 hours screen time. So far so good, but I'll do more testing

Just got my open box Certified delivered today and it looks good. It has 50+ hours of runtime and was packaged with the original box and styrofoam. I've had it running for a few hours now and everything looks nice!

Monitor and work tasks ?
Long as you understand that 48in is a pretty big monitor. I've used a 40in 4Ktv as my monitor for like 5+yrs now, some $300 pre-superbowl Samsung. Unless you can really bring the TV farther 48in you'll start needing to creak your neck to look up and such. Try two 24in monitors on top of each other.

The 42 is probably the sweet spot for a monitor for this reason, although... this is a pretty good price.

Got my Certified set today via UPS in less than a week. Box in decent shape, all accessories, and legs still in original wrap. Plastic screen protector still on and no visible set damage/ defects. Turned it on and successfully registered/ confirmed LG warranty.

Total Powered On Time said 1-hour once I finally checked it after having it on about 30 minutes (You want this and NOT the Screen Time report under Family Settings, which will reset with a reset. Power on Time is at -> All Settings/ General/ Devices/ TV Management/ TV Information/ Total Power On Time).

Pain in the rear having to set up an account before you can do anything and definitely not a fan of the pointer/ mouse style remote, but I am sure I can tweak some settings or get used to it. The form factor is very nice and most importantly, the picture is beautiful - deep blacks, bright colors, and smooth for streaming movie content. Perhaps a little more glare on the screen that my previous matte Samsung display but wasn't terrible. Anyhow just first impressions after messing with it for 45 minutes.

Tomorrow will be a deeper dive on settings and calibration (https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...d/settings)

Anyhow, I think this was an incredible deal and no regrets.

I didn't have to setup any kind of account to start using the TV with hulu and netflix. Also, the magic remote (pointer/mouse) is just an added function the remote has. You can still use the remote D-pad like any other non-magic remote.

EDIT: just saw that you do have to setup an LG account to install non-preinstalled apps which is definitely a pain

I cant tell difference between this A2 or the CX i have, both 48in. Put in Cinema mode and turned judder to 2 and UHD discs look great. Looks like the A2 has less agressive auto dimming as well.

Posted in earlier thread:
I had high hopes but returned the A2 back to Bestbuy.
I wanted to replace my 14 year old Samsung 7000 series w/ 3D with this LG A2 but it is not a better TV.
Pros:
Great colors
Cons:
- In a bright room the darks are too dark, can't see detail
- In general after trying many settings the brights are too bright and the darks are too dark unless you watch it in a dim or dark room and adjust accordingly.
- My 14 year old TV is clearer watching sports.
- Because it is OLED with a weaker processor when the TV is switching scenes the A2 goes black for a millisecond, this gets annoying after a while. You can only notice when two (Samsung and LG) TVs are next to each other.

In Summary- I wanted better colors and a clear TV for watching sports, as compared to my 14 year old Samsung. It is not better than my old TV so it went back. I guess I need to move up to LG C2 or Sony A95K for thousands $$ more.

Update: I tried the LG C2 and you do not see the milisecond black blinking in between switching scenes. It is a much brighter TV and perfect colors. I only noticed the blinking on the A2 when the two TVs are next to each other watching the same content. It's just a milisecond delay when switching screens, people won't notice when the TV is by itself. I do not know the exact difference between the A2 and the C2 but my eyes tell me the A2 is slower refreshing each screen , especially when it has to do the entire screen with all new content and colors. Howeve in a dimly lit room with the TV by itself it probably doesn't matter. You would think the LG A2 processor would be faster and better than a 14 year old (high end for its time) Samsung TV, but that is not what I am seeing, the LG C2's processor is better.
Just noticed this thread and want to comment that I returned my Black Friday priced A2 to Best Buy for similar reasons – after having a Sony as our primary screen, this screen is much dimmer and less vibrant, regardless of ambient lighting. The "magic" remote was irritating at best and no reliable way to turn off pointer mode completely. No PBS app for WebOS and no ASTC 3 next generation OTA tuner sealed my decision. Great deals are only deals when a person enjoys the product, and I didn't.

Was ready to return this tv for a C2 or Sony OLED until I disabled energy save mode so I can put the brightness to max. Prior to that it was dim and didn't have much pop due to the muted highlights and rich dark blacks with lack of detail which I later fixed. I had to google where to find the damn energy saving setting. My room is usually dark so it is bright enough now + used the similar calibration settings as a base and tuned to fit my environment from
The link someone else posted. Picture quality is great for $420. I'd have to spend double to get meaningful improved picture quality. Will keep for now… until I decide if I need 120hz

Would not recommend in bright rooms or at Normal price

Menu is kinda annoying and slow except for webOS which runs fine

You dont have Filmmaker Mode? Thats the most accurate for creator intent.

If y'all would have to went to Best Buy you would have saved time. I noticed right away how dull the A2 looked under the bright lights compared to the other oleds. They have these in Walmart and Target too and it doesn't have that traditional oled "wow". Might be different in a dark room but with the lights on it's nothing special. Now the C2, S95B, A95K, and G2......those are things of beauty.

I grabbed an Open Box - Excellent since the Certified was out of stock.

For anyone wondering, the TV is amazing. Absolutely brand-new. 0 hours screen time prior to me setting it up. No marks/scratches/etc. No dead pixels or any flaws at all. In our usually-dark bedroom, it works perfectly. If anyone is planning to move into their local Best Buy and watch TV under bright retail store lights, you might want more brightness. For the rest of us, however, it's absolutely fine and nothing to worry about at all.
