Microcenter continues to offer a free G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6000 PC5-48000 CL36 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit with the purchase of an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X Raphael AM5 4.7GHz 12-Core Boxed Processor. But now, they're matching the prices at B&H and Amazon, and taking them down $2 further to $417.98! This is historically the cheapest this CPU has ever been offered new, and it comes with free DDR5 RAM, worth $150.
Note that Micro Center does not ship CPUs. This deal is B&M only, but you can reserve it online or in-store pickup.
Also, the Zen 4 CPUs do not come with a heatsink or cooler. So you'll want to have a pretty decent CPU cooler, since these Zen4 chips are designed to run very hot (up to 95 degrees Celsius!)
In addition, if you bundle the CPU with an AM5 motherboard, you'll save another $20. Their system doesn't apply the discount if the motherboard is open box, but you can try to get a manager to override that, if they won't, and you manage to find one you want.
Yes, the new cheaper non-x versions are out. But with this sale, the non-x 7900 is $12 more! If you want the power savings and efficiency that the non-x versions provide, you can set this CPU to ECO mode in your motherboard's bios, at a small performance cost.
Also, yes, the 7900x3d is coming out in a month, with improved gaming performance in some games, but they haven't yet announced the price, and industry experts expect that they'll be priced at $600-700. So, basically, you'll get a 15-30% performance boost in SOME games for 50% more money than this deal, and likely with no free RAM.
The CPU:

The RAM:

Add both to your cart for a reservation for in-store pickup, and it will drop the price of the RAM to $.01. You generally have 3 days to pick up your reservation.
Some other ways to sweeten the deal:
1) Keep watching for an open box CPU on their website or in store. They generally take around 10-15% off open box CPUs. These are generally customer returns, and are tested before being put back in circulation. But if you manage to find one, reserve it quickly, since they sell out quickly. Obviously, test it as soon as you get it!
2) the Microcenter page for this product shows an ad for a free Star Wars Jedi: Survivor game. It's not mentioned anywhere else on the page, or in the cart or checkout screen. I didn't see the game or listing of a code or offer when I added it to my cart. Usually, the code is e-mailed or listed on the receipt. So, you MAY (or may not) get a code for a free game with this purchase. I'd ask a store representative or manager about this.
3) Submit a build to their Build Showcase for a $25 off coupon, with no minimum and no strings. as detailed in this thread. Note that it's currently taking a few days for them to approve the build and send the coupon. My reservation expired 3 days after I made it, and the coupon arrived the day after that! So, submit your build NOW! You can submit new builds every 30 days for a new coupon.

4) I'm not sure if they're still sending out $25 off on any CPU coupons to new customers, but it's worth a shot!

Note that the coupons generally don't work on open box items. But you can always ask a manager to see if he'll override that. No guarantees obviously.

I dont know why anyone would upgrade every generation anyway, but I feel like a lot of people are high right now on the "doom and gloom" constantly being pushed by their favorite overcritical YT reviewer.
This is a decent deal but honestly not much reason to go with an X when the 7700 comes with a decent cooler that can handle its low wattage. Pair it with a 4070ti and you can build a rig that'll outperform that 5900/3090 combo for about what people were paying just for 3090's before.
Sure the new gpus are still high, and that wouldn't really be a worthwhile upgrade from 5900/3090, but building a solid/affordable system is better right now than it has been for years.
Or you can wait for the even cheaper a620 boards, which will be out later this year. But there's only so low that the next generations of motherboards from either side of the aisle will go, since PCIe gen 5 and DDR5 implementation are expensive, as are the VRM's that can handle the power needs of the latest chips. The days of the sub-$100 motherboard are pretty much over.
But if money's tight, I also recommended in my original post considering an open box motherboard for additional savings of 10-20%. Most Microcenters have several to choose from in stock in a variety of price points. I know that it can be scary to buy an open box motherboard, but MC tests all of their customer returns, and the savings can be significant, or allow you to buy a better motherboard for the cost. This was my third open box motherboard in 6 years, and all have worked fine.
Or is it dependent on specific games?
Will wait for x3d reviews, but also hopeful they extend this free ram offer to x3d chips since AM5 hasn't been selling.. Time'll tell..

The 7900x3D hasnt been reviewed or launched yet, it launches sometime in February, but with no confirmed price, though its rumored to be $650-$700. Based on what was announced, it will probably be 5% faster at 1080p, and pretty much equal at 1440p and 4k to the 13900, but around 25% slower in multi-thread due to the lower TDP and lower frequency than the normal 7900x
I'd get the 13900/13900f/13900k. LGA1700 motherboards are cheaper, 13th gen has far better DDR5 compatibility and can do far higher DDR5 speeds, you definitely wont see these RAM deals with x3D, and the multi-threaded performance is better on the 13900.
Edit: If you care more about gaming than multi-thread, the 13700 has basically identical gaming performance to the 13900, and you can get the i7-13700 starting at $380
Meanwhile, the 13900 chips you're recommending are 40-65% more expensive for that 11-18% performance boost. And neither it, nor the 13700, comes with the free $150 RAM that this deal comes with. DDR5 compatibility is generally only a problem if you buy chips with XMP that were designed specifically for Intel chips, instead of chips with EXPO that were designed for AMD chips. And those are generally more expensive anyways, especially those pricey high speed RAM sets!
So, basically, with the 13900's, you'll save around $100 on the motherboard, but pay at least $170 for similar RAM and at least $150 more for the CPU, for a total of 50% more for a performance boost of 11-18%. And for the 13700's you'll save $100 on the mobo and $38 on the CPU, but pay at least $170 for the RAM for nearly identical gaming performance and much worse productivity performance. Isn't this supposed to be Slickdeals? It's the free RAM that makes this a slick deal.
Still no ragrets on my 13700kf build though. Yes, I paid $160 more for it over this deal but I have much better ram (hynix A die 6400 CL32 XMP that's going to probably o/c to 6800 CL32-34) and a better cpu. Well worth the difference if you'll ever do anything besides gaming with your PC, gents.
That being said it seems to be working fine and is completely stable in the ASRock X670E Steel Legend mobo. I haven't tried messing with the timings but I've thought about it.
My last six GPUs (GTX 670/770/980/1070, RTX 2070/3070 Ti) were all open boxes as well.

AMD 7900X - $560
Intel 13700 - $700
Same ram and cheapest MB option for each CPU.
https://slickdeals.net/f/16407847-amd-ryzen-7900x-asus-b650e-motherboard-g-skill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr-5-6000-ram-599-99
With that combo, you're getting (with this CPU and RAM), a motherboard that's regularly $300 for only $182! $600 for next gen CPU, mobo and RAM is a steal! And certainly better and cheaper than anything you can get on the Intel side of the aisle.
Honestly, I think that it's a price mistake (since they have worse combos for more money!), and they'll likely fix it soon, so jump on this! There are certainly better AM5 motherboards that you could buy, but not even remotely in this price range.
That motherboard is still quite future proof, with gen 5 in one each PCIe and M.2 slots and the same enhanced audio that they're offering in their $400+ boards. Basically, you're getting all of the extra B650E features for less than most b650 non-E boards. I've got the x670E-A version of this board (which was much more expensive at $360 for an open box), and it's been awesome. If I didn't already have that board, I'd JUMP on this deal!
Currently I use shadow tech remote desktop which works fine. But looking for solid pc instead of making monthly payments
