Using a card payment processor at 2.9% you'd be able to cycle $4,000 for $116 in fees - add the $69 card fee and you're at $185 for Companion Pass and 34,000 points, which is a solid deal for 11 months of pass.
I got the Priority card a little over a year ago. I was able to add the card to ApplePay before getting the physical card.
Once the card appears in your accounts in the Chase app
go to the card,
click Show More under Account Services
Click Digital Wallets
I was able to add the card to ApplePay. GPay and Paypal are also offered but I did not try to add those.
Hope this helps someone. It's possible they changed this since I did do it over a year ago.
Have done the CP many times. This looks like an easy way to get it. Too bad I have no desire to fly anymore.

My fiance applied for this card last year and we used the heck out of it. Now it's my turn to get the card, but unbeknownst to me, she had added me as a user. So a card was issued in my name. But I never used it nor did I ever receive the bonus or benefit from it. My fiance received those perks as the primary card applicant. Does me being a card holder disqualify me for this promotion and getting companion pass?
Even as an authorized user on her card, you are still eligible to apply for the card as a new application.
I signed up for this offer last year and it was such a blast to use. I have a referral link I can provide if anyone is thinking about signing up, and can talk more about my experience too. I opted for the priority pass due to it having the most bonus points and upgraded seatings, because to upgrade yourself and your companion, it uses 2 upgrades.
Although southwest doesn't have any reserved seating, sometimes if you get a really late boarding group its worth using the upgrade if you have it.
I already booked a trip for end of March with my two kids using the Costco's Southwest gift cards to get the 10% off. I suppose I can try to spend $4,000 on everything and may get the companion pass in time before the trip… Not sure if the tickets will be much higher at the last minute before March 28th. Should I try and then rebook with the companion pass? Is that going to save me money? I guess the unused travel credit from Costco's gift cards can be used in the future.
We have been thinking of another trip 2024 but it will be after 2/28 for another spring break vacation (much easier when kids are out of school). I suppose I could try to catch a weekend trip when kids are out on a non-holiday Friday or Monday during winter for skiing before 2/28…
We are not a frequent flyer… We'd be lucky to fly out west once a year. More than that it's pushing for us.
Based on your use case and amount of travel, it doesn't seem like this card would be beneficial to you and your family. It works best for a duo or family that flies once a month or several times a year. The Costco SW gift cards would work better for your situation.

Did a referral from my Chase SW card for the wife and got approved immediately last night. Called this morning and able to expedite card. Was able to add it to Apply Pay as it showed up in the account. But unable to add to PayPal or Google Pay. Really needed PayPal for appliance purchase at Home Depot to hit the spending and sales end today but unfortunately no go there. Apple pay shows last 4 digits but no way to know the full account number or 3 digit code.
Can someone confirm if the wait period is 30 days or 12 months if canceling an existing swa credit card and reapplying. SUB was received over 36 months ago.
Am I reading the terms correctly that current SW cardholders aren't eligible for the 30,000 bonus miles, but ARE eligible for the companion pass?
"30,000 Bonus Points After You Spend $4,000 On Purchases In The First 3 Months From Account Opening: The product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months." I don't see similar limitations on the companion pass.
It says this on the promotional page UNDER the area where you apply:
"This product is available to you if you do not have a current Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Business Card and Employee Credit Card products."

30 days if applying for the exact card you cancelled; or as little as 4 days if applying for a different variety of Southwest personal card than you had/cancelled.
how strict is the 24 month rule? i got the priority card in nov of 2021 and cancelled it in dec of 2022, is it worth giving it a shot to sign up for the priority card again?
I'm planning to cancel my existing SWA credit card (opened 4 yrs ago) and apply for this. If I cancel my current SWA credit card before the statement cycle ends does chase still credit me the points earned from purchases made in the current cycle?

I believe you lose the current month's points since you areclosing it before the official end of the month. That has happened to me in the past.

Get priority. You get a $75 travel credit to offset the AF.

Got my 2 cards(1 personal + 1 biz) in late Oct. Hit my spend Jan 1st and now have CP for all of 2023 AND 2024.
Nice kicker was I used my wifes referral link and the 20k pts she got qualified her for CP too but only for 2023...
Later,
Bub
