I think it's fast enough for most people. Many M2 Mac's have chipsets in this speed range, and you'll be hard pressed to find unhappy customers. For my use case, it's going to be in an external enclosure, and with USB 3.2, there is almost no benefit of 4.0 vs 3.0.

Unless you are regularly transferring large amounts of data between two sufficiently fast devices (IE two NVME drives) then this is plenty fast enough.

Not to mention this is near HDD prices, from a reputable brand and seller, and cheaper than most SATA options.

This is perfect for a starter system, a scratch disk for photo work, or a backup game drive.

Just keep in mind most of the people are still using motherboards with NVME 3.0 specs. Using a 4.0 NVME stick is not going to be any faster if the motherboard doesn't support it.

Exactly. In addition the Gen4 run much hotter. This is also an issue in many scenarios.
