The easiest thing is just do an Acronis ot other image backup of existing drive to external USB. Then change out drives and do a restore. This way you also have a backup file

Not slick. Just google, SSDPEKNU010TZX1 is $34.99 everywhere. It's funny, where $109.99 came from.

Amazon has cheap metal enclosures that fit a std. 3.5" bay that I used for a couple of my builds.

Yep probably the original MSRP. I bought a 660p a few years ago and that was like 85$

I bought one from Microcenter when they hit $50, and price tag was $140.

If you're running Windows, I'd throw the original drive in the enclosure, install the new drive, and do a fresh install. Then you can connect the old drive to copy over anything you need from the old installation. Also a good time to install Windows 11 instead of 10 if you haven't upgraded yet.

I've always found cloning to be more trouble than it's worth, not to mention Windows in my experience needs a fresh install every 18 months or so to gain back fast boot times.

The 2 TB is 65$ right now. $32.50/per TB vs $35 for the 1TB

I bought this [amazon.com] a couple of months ago. It's $16.14 now on Amazon. It works well, comes with two cables, one USB-A, and a USB-C (both have the USB-C on one end of course). It works well, gets hot (transfers heat away from the drive), as it should. And a new install, then copying stuff will leave your applications on the old drive. Clone it after making a backup to an external HDD (in case anything goes wrong). You can use a free version of Macrium Reflect to do it. Acronis works, too (but it's more complicated). It takes time in the short run, might save days ultimately.

$35 should've been the price for this drive a long time ago.
