Yes. The max output provide more amperage and therefore more torque. The regular batteries are plenty in most situations. The max output batteries can be useful when you need more torque for a job. Both batteries work with all Ridgid 18V tools and the max output batteries will provide all of them with higher performance. I have both, but have only been in one situation where I had to swap to the max output battery. The max output batteries replaced the Octane line, and now all the brushless tools are higher performing and you just use the max output batteries to get to that higher performance.

Reason I bought my first set 5-6 years ago. Batteries still work awesome
Just bought 3/8 subcompact impact, 1/2 Impact wrench with the free tool (3/8 rachet wrench)
Sorry, I'm just tooting my own horn cause I'm so excited (and high)

Well I wanted to know if it going to harm my expensive Makita tools or not by going non-makita batteries.
Same here
Swapped to the Maxx output battery and it cut through like butter. That is one of the common situations I've come across where the Maxx output battery made a huge difference in a practical application.
