This is an OK deal.

The machine itself is quite decent for a beginner espresso maker.

The grinder is OK and the actual machinery that pulls the espresso shot is also good.

As for the deal--no one should be buying this at its retail price of $849+, the Barista Breville Pro is usually on sale every 3 months or so for $679 give/take.

The last sale on the Bed Bath and Beyond however, was excellent. For those not in the know--the BBBY website glitched and was essentially letting people stack a 20% + 30+ coupon and I myself bought this machine for $475 + tax which was excellent.

For those that have this machine or are interested, this is an excellent video for aftermarket products to consider using with this machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiBK63yzOF4

Hope this helps!

I don't have this machine yet, was waiting on a deal to get it. In short, yes it can make it. Longer answer, you have to do the work. The machine can grind your beans, but you'll need to distribute the ground beans better with a WDT and tamper. The machine will then make the espresso and can steam the milk. You'll still need to add the mocha flavor manually and mix it all, but it is the main tool to allow you to make a mocha latte at home. The deeper you dive into homemade espresso making, the more you'll find out the "extras" you may need/want to make it better. Hope that answers your question.

How does this compare to the nepresso Gran Lattissima Black? Don't really know much about coffee machines.
With the Nespresso you will consistently get a meh cup of coffee. Will never be great, but probably never terrible neither.

With something like this you CAN get a great cup of coffee/espresso/latte, but you do need to do a bit of work for it, practice it, and experiment.

Just poking around in both threads. If anybody has a spare 20% coupon, that'd be awesome if I could take it off your hands Smilie

Otherwise it looks like BBBY has stopped sending out 20% coupons for any of the sign up offers at the moment.

The built-in grinder seems like a no-go for me.

I bought this machine a few months back from BBB. Upon trying to apply the 20% coupon, the store rep said it can't be applied as it is excluded. I had persuaded him to try in his register to see if it works. He tried, and it worked, but still, he was hesitant to sell it to me without the calling manager for final approval. The manager was kind enough to approve it, and i got it for $649.
Today, i tried online and was able to apply 20% coupon, and the price is $543. So whoever got their 20% email coupon can get it for that price now.
Btw, this pulls a decent espresso shot once you cross the learning curve.

It sure does. Would you recommend a mono tool that is just for grinding or is the built in on this good enough?
You will get much better results with a separate grinder. I would go with a Breville Bambino (don't need the Plus version) and a separate grinder like the DF64 or Encore ESP etc
Espresso grinders aren't cheap, but the quality makes a huge difference to the taste, (poor quality grinders will be bitter and not pleasant) so getting a good grinder is critical.

How'd you get the 20% coupon applied online?

It's a okay deal however barista pro is much better than the barista express. Get a pro version if you can afford.

I got mine from Black Friday i guess and there was a coupon 20% off and $100 bbby gift card which I used it to get a shun knife

I've really gotta laugh at the people who think you NEED to spend a grand or even 4 grand to ruin your own espressos. and really, who isn't a barista on the internet. the culture is annoying.

ANYWAYS some of the cheaper machines, like delonghi ecp3420, can give fantastic results with fresh beans and proper grind/packing. pair with a mid price sub $100 flat bur grinder.

if you've got the money, buy a more expensive machine, but you've still gotta fine tune the prep. I'm not sure why you'd want an integrated grinder unless repair was easy or cheap, but seems like a lot of people in these threads/barista community will sooner drop money on a brewing machine vs something more necessary which is why this crap gets so bloated with expense. but it isn't my job to tell anyone how to spend their money.

anyways getting off my high horse, a lot of people will benefit getting a sub $200 machine and figuring out what works better and upgrading later if they're unsatisfied.

Is this the fully automatic one? Meaning it can make a cup of coffee at the touch of a button?
