These TVs, up to this point at least, always have issues. 4K120 gaming is an issue, banding & posterization are issues, etc. This set uses the same SOC as the 2021 U8G (which is also 8 bit FRC panel), so while they added mini LED tech to this U8H it still has some of the same issues.

Basically if you've never had an OLED or QLED, you'll tolerate the issues because the picture quality is a massive improvement in most cases. If you have experience with QLED/OLED you might find the issues unforgivable.

The U8K dropping this summer should have a different SOC so it will be interesting to see if some issues are mitigated or remain. Hisense is gonna be in a tough spot if QD-OLED moves closer in priceā€¦if I can get a QD-OLED for under $1500 I don't know that I'd buy a Hisense ULED/MiniLED for $1000 (even though they keep improving it).
I have an older "premium" Hisense - the H8G from late 2020. Picture quality is fantastic esp. for the price. My brother got the same model and neither of us have had any issues.

One thing to keep in mind though: do not expect any reasonable software update support. Mine is still stuck on the Feb 2021 android security patch. I reached out to their support to see if there was a later update that wasn't showing up OTA, and they sent me an update file timestamped Mar 2021 so I didn't even bother installing it.

That's about half a year of security update support from when it was released to market.

If you get this, I would recommended against connecting it to the internet and instead using a streaming box/stick that doesn't leave a hole in your network.
Any concerns that this isn't a true 10 inch panel and instead an 8 bit with FRC? I understand the reviews at sites like Rtings are great, but lots of user reviews out there showing issues with banding and posterization on this TV.

Well user reviews are definitely human eyes. But seem to be in opposition to Rtings. Personally, I put more stock in visual opinion of a TV in real use scenarios.

I have the 75 inch, and I didn't notice any of these. Maybe it's time to check my eyesšŸ˜…

Does anyone know what the lowest price ever for this TV was ?
I believe lowest was $849- But this is the lowest in quite some time. Been monitoring it's prices I have $300 in Best Buy giftcards, $50 of which expire mid April.Good enough for me to pull the trigger.

What's a good TV brand that does do updates on the software for TVs? Sony and LG? That's the issue I have right now with my current tv I have a Samsung KS8500 and an update to the software was meant to be given to also give HDR 10 support but that never materialized. If they haven't given much update then I might definitely look at other TV brands.

This tv has poor viewing angles. If you have a wide seating arrangement then this tv is not for you. Check rtings review.

All LED tvs have poor viewing angles. If your use case requires wide seating then OLED is necessary.

If you've ever had to deal with Hisense's customer service, you'd never buy one of their products again. If you cant return it to the store, its worthless and you're up a creek.

Spent 6 months dealing with them all while I just replaced the tv. Has an issue with a Samsung OLED, they sent a local tech over and replaced the entire panel within a week. All because of a dead pixel.

Not if you get an IPS display. Problem with that is typically the picture quality on an IPS panel is not as good as a VA panel. There's always a trade off.

If those issues are big to you...then Hisense is not a brand you are looking at
Sony/Samsung are your friends

LOL...and there is one of the reasons for the low price on the Hisense

I thought the U8H scored better th an the x90k so why is everyone complaining about the scrolling on this TV when compared to the Sony? Which is better if what I'm reading is wrong?

Not sure what you mean by "scrolling", maybe you're talking about motion handling?

Rtings tries pretty hard to declare that they're independentā€¦they buy the TV from a store instead of accepting TV from the manufacturer.

That being said, the one thing that's kind of suspect is their "Best TVs" category. They went from 5 TVs total to 7 TVs so that they could keep the Hisense stuff in thereā€¦adding "Upper mid range" & "Lower mid range" & "Best Cheap TV". Make of that what you will, but their ratings definitely impact a lot of people's buying decisionsā€¦

Look at similarly priced Sony and Samsung tv's. They have much better viewing angles than Hisense and TCL..

I own the 55" U8H and it is outstanding on PS5 with VRR and amazing HDR and brightness. I mean leaps and bounds better than most, if not all, in this price class. I would recommend this TV for gamers first and foremost.

Only cons I would call out are:

- Crappy Android OS Smart TV features and recommend Apple TV or Roku or Fire or ANYTHING else
- Banding and posterization but I don't notice in most content, but it does show up

I really can't over emphasize how bright this TV is compared to most. I never put much stake in HDR prior, and in many games I would turn off and tune picture to better IMO. This TV is a game changer and games not previously played in HDR that re now look a whole next gen from what they are IMO. If the 65" is anything like the 55", I highly recommend.
