U8K arrives in about two weeks, so this may be as low as it gets with wide availability.

All-time low real price, as the original $849 in the fall was $949 with a $100 rebate card. Amazon now matches the BB sale price, of course.

edit: I did a search for last year's model to see the price trajectory. The 65" U8G hit $850 at the start of June, just like here. It then reappeared in July at $800 at both BB and Amazon. Finally, it had a last hurrah on Black Friday weekend at Newegg for $612.

So... if you can wait a month or two you may see $50 lower, but it don't expect wide availability at a price lower than that.

For sure, definitely a good thing for folks to keep in mind. I did a search here on SD, and this is the lowest price I saw for the U8H.

I only recently moved up from a 32" tv I owned for 10 years. No need for UK8. This one, which ratings.com identified as best low-mid range TV in 2023, will be just fine.

65" U8G (2021 model) eventually hit $650-750 range as they cleared out the last of the "new" inventory in late summer 2022. You might be buying from a lower tier retailer at that point (Ex . Newegg instead of Best Buy).

So if folks are wondering how much better this can get if they wait it out a few months, the answer is probably $100-150 better

I am looking to upgrade from my Samsung 65 KS8000. How big of a improvement will this be?

For the price should I get this or should I just splurge on a TCL QM8 or LG C2?

Check the microcenter LG c2 65 thread. https://slickdeals.net/f/16675931-lg-oled65c2pua-65-class-64-5-diag-4k-ultra-hd-smart-led-tv-refurbished-a9-gen-5-ai-processor-4k-oled-evo-1099-99-at-micro-center

Some folks including me were able to get BB to price match new unit with MC refurb. Took several tries for others, but only once for me. Huge YMMV, however, your perseverance may pay off.

It's a good tv but the green splotting in dark scenes is absolutely horrible.

I bought this 65" TV for watching ota TV and streaming movies. Very bright and nice colors on 4k content. I also have 55" LG C2 & Samsung qn95 TV used as gaming PC and watching TV. Hisense U8H is used in main room duty. Its very good TV and has good built in sound. This TV replaced 5 year old 75" LG 4k TV that was much darker screen with gray blacks.

Is the U8K going to be marginally better with the same 999$ price point?

Looking at TCL QM8 pricing and slightly better picture quality related light blooming / color. Hisense will charge more for U8K.

Question for the experts out there: I'm looking to replace a Panasonic plasma 720p that has served me well for 11 years but is finally starting to fail. My only tv watching is streaming (mostly sports) through a Roku, with sound via a Yamaha receiver. I don't care about having the latest and greatest technology and am perfectly happy with my super old Panny plasma but I know it won't last forever. Given my modest needs and the fact that I likely won't use the built in speakers or apps, would a TV like this be overkill, compared to, say, the sub-$400 cheapo UHD models? Any tv I buy will be used until it dies, so longevity also matters. I don't expect to get a decade out of my next tv, but I'd like it to last more than just a few years.

Might be marginally better but it will be priced at a premium for the first few months. eg... When the TCL 8 Series (2019) The first affordable mini-LED TV first came out
it was priced at $2k for the 65 and 3K for the 75"
After a while the price settled down to $1k and $1,5K

Funny you raise this. I have a Panasonic plasma I am looking to replace in the basement for workout and Playstation racing wheel setup. Was wondering if this is a good fit for that. Or if I replace a Sony Bravia that's 7 years old and and swap out the Plasma.
