Come on. Do not add pre-conditions to earn more. We are talking about no pre-conditions to earn 2% cash back on everything purchase and you just can't find the card to earn more. If you like conditions such as annual fee, member to open a bank account etc, that is a different thing. People may not like those conditions.

I need to spend around 500 on Amazon for a few items in the next week or so.

Would this card be the current best one to get $200 cash back?

The actual Amazon prime CC has like 150 credit sign up bonus and 5% which I think Wells Fargo comes out better still. I dont see any other good cash back cards at the moment unfortunately.

Just curious... does anyone know if this Wells Fargo card and 2% cash back unlimited on everything is something that's been around for a solid while, or do you think it's a newer thing that is likely to change a few months to a year after they pull in new customers?

In the only-requires-500-spend class there's a better cards than this if you're talking about how useful they are after the bonus-- Chase Freedom Flex for example offers 20,000 UR points (which are $200 taken as cash, more than that if used for travel along with other chase cards) for $500 spend, plus 5% on groceries for a year... (plus the Flex offers 5x UR points on spend in useful changing categories each quarter, plus 3x UR points on dining and drugstores). Freedom Unlimited also has the same $200/500 and 5x for 12 months on grocery offer- and if you can get transfer use out of chase points its normal 1.5x UR is more valuable than 2% cash back too. If you want a potentially better bonus the chase instacart card gets you $300 in instacart credit for NO spend (plus 5% back on all instacast purchases).... One other to consider, though it requires 1k spend for $200 reward, is the US Bank Cash+ because it's so useful going forward-- 5% cash back in 2 categories of your choice each month plus 2% in another you pick....and it covers some more obscure categories other cards usually don't like home utilities or movie theaters.

If you specifically want a non-category-spend card then the "best' option will depend a bit on if you travel/can make good use of amex or chase flex points to do so....if so then the Chase unlimited or the Amex BBP will be more valuable than 2% cash back... the unlimited has the same 200/500 SUB plus 5% on groceries for a year I mention... the BBP often has 15k or 25k SUB but requires higher spend to earn it.

If you do NOT travel the best non-cat card requires BOA Plat. honors status- in which case you can get 2.625% cash back on everything.... and has a $200 SUB for 1k spend.

If you don't travel and can't get BOA status then Alliant has a card offering 2.5% back on your first 10k of spend, no annual fee, but you need to keep 1k in an alliant checking account with at least 1 monthly electronic deposit (transfers count so you can just move $1 in then back out each month--- no SUB on that one though.

After all those then you're finally down to the generic 2% CB cards like this one... but since most folks can get the bulk of their spend into the categories where you can earning 3x-5x rather than 2x one should try and cover those.

Thank you for the detailed response.

I was considering Chase but I have 3 current Chase Freedom cards already lol. (1 I applied for years ago, 2 from downgrades with one of them just last week)

I think if I didn't have Chase Freedom, I'd get one of those for the 200 cash back and current 5% amazon cb. (Current catagory)

As for the other CC, those look enticing each with their pros and cons. I guess I'll check again today.

On another topic, I will apply for a Chase Ink Business card soon to get the possible 750 CB there because I have a big purchase around the corner. I hope applying for that doesn't hurt my chances with a smaller CC like this one on this thread if I apply for both in a short time frame.

So there's 2 aspects to the business card thing:

1) Approved cards don't show up on your personal report-- so that's a plus... it won't count against your 5/24 count with chase for example... (though they WILL check if you're below 5/24 when deciding to approve the biz card or not. You WILL still get a hard credit pull, but that's not usually an issue unless you've got a BUNCH recently.

2) Chase does have a 1/30 (no more than 1 business application per 30 days) and a 2/30 (no more than 2 total applications across biz and personal) per 30 days so just keep those in mind.

Thank you for the Intel!

So I don't want to go off topic but I did get one of the Chase Ink Business cards when it was 900 bonus sign up CB. That was like 3 months ago and I haven't applied to anything else since then. I will likely go for that one first and if I can, on a small CB card.

Usually I don't do this but it just happens I have expenses coming up asap. Timing just working on ny favor some some CB.

Thanks again!

Just got approved with a $30k limit!! The 0% for 15 months is the real bargain. $30k in a 5% CD for 12 months would pay you $1500.

Wow, really? That's crazy. I just got approved yesterday for this card and I was kinda pissed to find out that they only gave me a $2500 limit, which i think is extremely low given my fairly high salary, 788 credit score, and the fact that i only have 1 other open credit card which I've had for about 17 years and no debt. I could easily eclipse that limit on a single vacation.

Could you elaborate? I'm not that familiar with that... and am curious how that could negatively impact me if I'm simply using the card to purchase things and pay my balance off in full every month.

Are you referring to them selling our purchasing trends to external sources?

But want to use a credit card to pay off a delinquent utility bill to rebuild my credit.
Would this card be good? Or too hard to get?
Or any suggestions from anyone?

Are used to work for WF. You will not get approved even with one charge off. Just a heads up.

Start here - https://violationtracker.goodjobs...ells-fargo
And if that's not enough, just search google for wells fargo fines to date...

Then think - where is all the money coming from these fines? The consumer...
Now if dealing with a company known for doing very very bad things is not an issue for you, then go for it...
Personally, my morals and values prevent me from doing that... but to each his\her own...

LMAO - and not even 24 hours later - news headline "Wells Fargo to Pay $1 Billion to Settle Lawsuit by Shareholders"...

Where's the 1 billion coming from this time... Oh, still the consumers? what a surprise...

So I repeat -
Wells Fargo STILL has a credibility problem...

You can use a credit card to put money into a CD? Seems like quite the loophole that banks would've noticed and locked down by now.
