HP - LaserJet Pro M283fdw Wireless Color All-In-One Laser Printer - White
Yes it duplexes. I think these are on clearance. The link leads to the model cdw, but they are the exact same printer.
Added info: They have 8 of them at the Melrose Park Illinois store for $249.97.
I can't speak to this specific model. I have a M277DW that is the predecessor to this model purchased in 2016 that is till cranking right along. I've only ever replaced the toner and have had maybe 1 or 2 paper jams total in that time as well.
You mean the automatic document feeder? It does have the auto feeder.
I have only ever bought black and white laser printers in the last 20 years. When I looked in Amazon, the genuine HP toner for this printer is anywhere between $330 for low yield (1,250 color pages; 1,350 black) and $400 to $500 for high yield (2,450 color, 3,150 black.)
FYI. Not sure if generics would work.

Initiating scans from the software on the PC always works, so you can go that route if more convenient than USB at any point.
But that requires going to where the scanner is, changing the pages, and then going back to initiate, going back to grab or change it again. That's what makes USB or scan-to-file so much more convenient, you can keep your printer in a centralized location for different people in the house to use vs next to your PC in a single room.

It depends on your use-case and preferences obviously. You can probably argue for either approach.
One way, you walk to the printer to add everything to the ADF, go back to the PC to initiate the scanning, and can adjust any (or all) of the scans if necessary before saving them however you like. Then go back to collect your docs. More walking, yes, but more opportunity to proof and adjust your scans and more flexibility in how they are saved.
The other way, you could do everything at the scanner in one go potentially, but you don't get any scan previews and you'll have to edit the scans after, which could be even more annoying.
Just depends on what fits your work flow.
I doubt it, plus that's generally a bad idea on modern lasers.
Most modern cartridges are chipped.
A good generic toner refiller will change the chip and the electrostatic roller in the cartridge (at minimum), while also assessing the rest of the internal parts.
There are lots of things that can go wrong in a toner cartridge, especially the HP ones that combine drum and toner, so you're usually better off buying generics vs trying to refill yourself.
If you do, be prepared to at least buy new chips online.
Have this printer and such a nice one. Only issue I see with this printer model is it cant scan multiple papers at once as it does not have the top feeder. Instead we need to scan one by one. If its for printing, no need to look back as color and monochrome prints both come out pretty fast and good.
How much are replacement toners and are there generic ones?
How original. Do you reply with that to every single person who has asked a question on SD?
And I wouldn't have to ask if this was posted. Every laser printer thread show have this information in the OP. It is the single most important information for any printer. This thing could be $150 but if the toners cost $500 then it is not worth buying.

And that's information that you could easily look up yourself. It isn't the OP's job to spoonfeed you every detail of the printer or whatever the item is. In the time it took you to type out and post the question here, you could have had your answer.

It is asked in every non-Brother laser printer deal on SD. Yes, i can google it, but that will only touch the surface of it. I was trying to invoke an opinion of how good are the oem options if they exist, including cost and how easy is the process (chipping, etc). If you don't want to answer it, then let someone else do.
Can you imagine if "google it yourself" was the answer to every single question asked on SD? Every thread would be empty. Not much of a "community" is it? If that is what you prefer, you shouldn't be part of this community.

2) Generic = yes (approx half the OEM prices)
