Heads up, if you look in photographer groups, they adamantly believe there are major quality problems with these in the last 6 months. People who love these things are having new ones poop out all over the place, while the older ones remain great

Damn I just bought a 2TB and an enclosure for total of $90. This is better though. Secure enclosure and Sandisk.
I was thinking about doing the same thing (getting a 2TB internal SSD and an enclosure for around $90 total). Can you elaborate as to why this SanDisk is a better deal at $40 more? Thanks.

Better enclosure is key. Rugged. Rubberized. Water seal rated especially the Samsung 2TB
If home use only then all good for the $90 home hack. If you take the drive out then I would get Sandisk or the Samsung t7 rugged deal. $130 2TB also
It's all about the enclosure again since performance is capped at 1000MB/s. You can get cheaper 2TB drive and not gen 4 since performance is capped to lower cost further below $90
After I wrote the original post. I decided that I don't need Sandisk cuz I am leaving my $90 drive at home only. . I have 1TB Sandisk extreme I can use "outside" and it is plenty for me even if it is older at 500 MB/s speed.
