Note, in title it says open box, but when you look at kit show details, it doesn't say open box, so it might be new I went with open box, just to be safe
Seems like a good deal but store likely have only a couple of bodies. Plus since Lumix introduced phase detect autofocus it's better to wait for a new mft system with hybrid autofocus unless you don't need autofocus
1st. GH6 has a lot more pro video functions that OM-D doesn't have, such as slow motion 120 fps, ProRes 422, ssd direct recording, V-Log. they don't compete at all if you doing video anything.
2nd. Olympus OM-D is dead. it is now OM systems. what does OM systems has resource wise? none. the OM series is now in limbo, like pentax. expect very few firmware updates, very few hardware updates aside form whatever that was developed when the brand was still under olympus.
i like the OMD system, and i have an extensive collection of their lenses, but i just cannot recommand om system to anyone with 1. MFT now cost as much as APS-C and sometimes FF, 2. APS-C and FF body is just as small, and equivalent lens is just as light. and 3. OMD is essential dead.
Bought this when it came out over a year ago. Autofocus on this was much improved from previous lumix cameras. Yes it's not phase detect but it is very close. I have no problem with interviews with autofocus. Every now and then I may lose a shot but I had that with my phase detect Sony's as well.
Pro's:
-Image stabilization is best in the business.
-4k 120, 1080p 300fps
-Records direct 4k Pro-Res and Carrie's internal LUTs.
-Color science and skin tones are really good.
-Great Ergos
-Never overheats
Cons:
-Should have been released with Phase Detect AF.
-Body is on the large side with internal cooling system

I totally agree with this. Although it's a great camera. In a couple years it'll be a loss.
Price in November with the 9mm f1.7 lens was better In my opinion. But this might be the best price since and the lens bundle is decent if you need a first lens.
It's a great camera, especially if you do a lot of video and want high res and high frame rate at a reasonable cost.
But it really is meant to be a video camera, if you shoot mostly stills or don't mind 4k30, you'll usually be better off spending the same money on a system with a larger sensor. Lenses are small for their equivalent focal length, but also slow unless you spend a lot of money, and even then not very fast.
I'm multiple bodies and tons of lenses into mft, and don't regret it for my use cases, but it's not the right choice for everyone, especially as other larger sensor systems finally start catching up to Panasonic's video lead (I haven't shot less than 4k60 in about 5 years if I get to choose the format, something only Panasonic made possible on my budget)
fwiw frontpage listing title says this is $12.98 which is only reason I clicked in as this had to be a typo.... and obviously it is, off by a couple decimal places....

GH5 owner with lots of expensive lenses, but I just can't. The dream of 4/3rds was that it could read out fast enough to do things that would cause heat issues in full frame cameras. That started with 4k60 but should've continued to computational photography, like a large format Google Pixel. 4/3rds never got there.
It sits between great cell phone computational photography and great FF cameras capable of 4k60 video. Right now my GH5 with my favorite 10-25mm f/1.7 lens is the size of the latter but honestly still doesn't look as good as the former without post processing. Which just doesn't fit in today's social world. The GH6 offers little improvement and has lost me.
For what it's worth, this looks to be on backorder now. I was just looking at Amazon last week (and confirmed just now), and they have brand new bodies for the same price with a $400 instant coupon on the page for prime members (shipped and sold by Amazon).

Their lenses are not cheap…. But 3rd party lenses seem decent .. but I don't think Sony lenses are cheap in any way, but maybe I need to check again
It's really one of those, if my stock pick bumped high enough, Sony is the camera I would buy
