It's $180 solo at Amazon? What am I missing?

As Decadance said, be VERY aware of "too good to be true" deals on Amazon, Newegg, etc. When a seller lists their ships from/sold buy as "Amozoncom-us" or similar, you can assured it is a scam. Why there isn't a "report this seller" button is another topic, but I am seeing that MUCH more frequently now. Always look at the number of reviews and the sellers rating. If unsure, dig a little deeper for "most recent" reviews. Sometimes they have 5-star for the first 20 and then 1-star for all of the 'real' reviews.

I've bought numerous things from them in the past, but they have a reputation with occasionally being difficult on returns. Also, they are Chinese owned company!
Might be Chinese owned (not sure), but headquartered in the US at least (so paying US taxes, we hope). Other brands people love are "Chinese owned" (Milwaukee, Ridgid, etc), so it is not as clear as most think. To be fair, 80%+ of what is sold from a computer technology perspective is made in China anyway (for now), so it's tough to get away from that country even if you wanted to do so.

I get that not everyone has a Microcenter or a time machine, but this deal makes this one pretty sad in comparison. They've still got it available at Microcenter, just for $450 now instead of $370. That seems like a much better deal than buying a $300 processor and then paying $150-200 for a mobo and $100 for RAM.

Additionally, if you follow the earnings and press releases of companies like AMD, you'll know that they're still struggling with excess inventory. It's likely that prices will continue to come down and you'll find better deals than this (questionable) deal.

I have used Newegg for probably 10+ years for multiple builds. About a year ago I purchased a motherboard but ended up not doing the build, so I sent it back unopened. I didn't even open the cardboard shipping box. Newegg rejected my return saying damaged socket. I didn't even open the package. I was so angry. I haven't used them since.

There's a gamers nexus video about this exact issue that they caught Newegg red handed with. And gamersnexus totally blasted their company for it.

Ironically during this time unbeknownst to me I ordered a pc case that arrived damaged and, they not only refunded me but said I could keep the case and was able to order another case and I got a promo code my way.

So moral of the story. Do business with Newegg when the next big bad PR press happens publicly and they tighten up and try to take care of customers. Otherwise they will continue to not stand behind their products and policies

In fact maybe you want to email gamersnexus and let them know what happened. Maybe they want to do a follow up video
