So I picked up both this Slim 7 Pro as well as a Yoga 7i 14" from BB because the Yoga was $599 and this was $899..

If you don't need the 3050 gpu, I think the Yoga 7i 14" MIGHT better choice after comparing the two.

Yoga 7i 14" Pros:

Yoga 7i has the same brightness (when comparing side by side) despite Lenovo saying the Yoga is 300nits, its the same nits as indicated by my light meter (within 30~ nits).

Resolution is close between the two units, 1400p on the Yoga vs 1600p.... Hard to notice the difference.

Battery life was 10.5 hours running a Youtube 1080p loop in Chrome at 150nits, I got 7.5 hours on the Slim 7 Pro. (Both at 60hz).

Yoga has a miniSD card reader and Slim 7 Pro does not.

All other perks of the Slim 7 Pro are about equal against the Yoga.. The Yoga is a 2in1 if you're into that sort of thing and consider it a bonus.

Yoga is much thinner and a bit lighter as well. Slim 7 Pro is about the same weight as my Zephyrus G14..

Yoga has a much quieter fan overall... Slim 7 Pro gets noisy quickly.

$300 less over the Slim 7 Pro..

Pros of the Slim 7 Pro:

Has 16gb of ram (MIght be the biggest factor for people)

Nvidia 3050 GPU.. Great if you need the power for productivity and for gaming.

Good price to performance ratio for what you get compared to something like the Asus Zephyrus G14.

90hz display is excellent, bright, zero backlight bleed in my unit.

USB4 is included, matching the need for TB4.

Quad speaker system delivers a bit deeper, fuller sound overall compared to the Yoga but not overly drastic enough over the Yoga's 2 speaker system, both are decent.

Faster 8 core cpu vs the i5 on the on the Yoga.. although when both are on Quiet mode they are about the same performance in CB23.

Just some food for thought if you want to save some money, the Yoga 14 is a great choice in my opinion after playing around with the two.

You can also order it through Lenovo.com and pick up at BestBuy, then you can apply extra student or military discount.

Gonna go with this, I've spent the last month scouring here for good deals on a new office laptop that also works as a disguised travel gaming PC and I need a touchscreen. This is the first I've seen that checks all my boxes for <1000 and I love Lenovos. +1 from me

Can you link to SD thread?
There wasn't a SD thread for it, I just come across the sale last week at Best Buy.. it was on sale for at least 5 days - surprised no one posted it here on SD.

And also, the 16" version of the 14" is on sale for 549.99 right now. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/leno...Id=6533948

16" is pretty large and heavy and has a lower resolution screen vs the 14" but it's still a great machine/deal.

F my life. I've spent 2 months waiting for deals. I finally caved in on memorial day. Now this shows up at this price.

Got a Lenovo Yoga 7i for about the same price. Should I return it for this one?

Someone asked a similar question earlier. In my opinion it purely boils down to whether you intend to do any gaming that needs the 3050. As you've probably noticed, the Iris Xe is very anemic for gaming, but it is actually fantastic at productivity tasks like web browsing and video playback at low power. If you are mostly doing productivity things, IMO the 7i with the Intel chip is better. The AMD setup I feel is better at gaming both because the 3050 runs a lot of AAA titles at 1080p/medium-high and also because the AMD Ryzen does a better job of working steadily at 20-40W under heavy load, while the Intel chip is better at briefly bursting and then settling in.

I got last year's model with 32gb, open box for this price. It's been a very decent laptop, it replaced a Acer Nitro 5 which was big, hot, noisy, and heavy. 3050 is capable, nice screen. Wife loves the touchscreen, I don't really care. I do care about not having to travel with that giant Nitro 5, this one is much thinner and lighter.

I should have put Win 10 on it, but we are slowly learning to live with 11.

Dang, I just received the slim 7i with the 13th gen i5 that was posted here not long ago. Got it for $787…I'm really enjoying it, great screen, snappy, good b
haven't purchased a new computer in 10+ except until last week so I'm a little out of the loop.
The only thing the intel one has going for it is thunderbolt. If thats useful for you theyre pretty similar machines. I'm typing on the amd Prox 3050 now.
Just a warning to everyone though, gaming at gsync 120hz this laptop has a problem with a black frame every few mins. I havent been able to solve this issue and its a bit jarring when playing certain games like rocket league. one or two frames of either black or extremely torn like not even the same frame. hopefully it gets fixed in software

Just ordered one from Lenovo's website and got another $45 off for id.me senior discount.

the dGPU should be good running two displays for office applications.

This has a "USB-C 4.0 Gen 1 full function (PD 3.0 / DisplayPort™ 1.4)" port so it sounds like it will support Thunderbolt 3.

If I've just got a few tabs open and/or word doc, will the fan on this be audible? And can I use it on my lap without it getting too hot? That's the majority of my use, but also looking for something that I can use photoshop on and maybe play a game or 2.

I just got the acer Predator 300se 14" and really like it, except the fan runs even when it's just sitting with nothing open. Guess that's what gaming laptops do though...

Quietest "gaming" laptops I've seen were the amd advantage ones.

Had it for 3 days. The fans do not come on for light work and the bottom of the case basically never feels hot because it draws cool air in from the bottom and out through the hinge so nothing you touch is acting as a heat sink.

Even full blast while gaming the fans are not loud. The speakers at 30-40% drown out the fan noise.

That's the big advantage of this thing being modestly powerful unlike an all out gaming laptop with a 100W CPU and 100W GPU which doubles as a hairdryer. I've bought and returned the Alienware 14 and ASUS ROG 14 for that reason — you breathe on 2 chrome tabs and their fans spin up and the case becomes hot.

Ordered on lenovo.com for best buy pickup.

asked to get 5% discount via chat, and was approved.

$854.99 + tax.

clicked through cb site, so maybe get something back that was as well, unknown.

hopefully this was a better deal than the ROG 14 and the Acer Predator 15.6 both were in the $899 range.

Ordered an open box excellent for $775 at
my local Best Buy. Will see what condition is. Not sure if I'll even keep it anyways as I don't really need a new laptop immediately. Can wait for a better deal.
I did the same thing. Do you know if the open box has any warranty?
