Cheaper by a couple of bucks to buy them on Amazon separately unless I am missing something

I'm seeing the first 6 feet as $66 and the extension 3 feet for $30

If I already have the power supply, I'd be better off just buying the 3 ft extensions right? Can't tell if I'd be buying more than I need here.

Do you need a hue bridge for these to work or can you use any zigbee dongle with home assistant or the equivalent?

You need a hue bridge. Hue is definitely the priciest lighting option for smart home tech, but it also works the most painlessly in my experience

So without the bridge what can these do?

Does no one on this site know how to Google things? Why are folks always repeating the same basic questions?

Man, they need to get their rgbic gradient strips down to these prices soon enough (not the TV versions, tho those are very overpriced as well). They have to be losing sales to the million Govee equivalents out there (even though as much as I love Govee stuff, the quality isn't 1:1 with Hue). Tired of the sales for these basic color versions that I have more than enough of!

This- it's insane that they still want so much for their rgbic

So you want the same high quality product for the lower price of the admittedly inferior competitor? What about that makes sense to you? I'd like to buy a Mercedes for the price of a Ford.

Well, if you actually read past a third grade level, you'd realize I never once said anything about matching their competitors, but rather making their prices more competitive. This is Slickdeals in case you forgot--why wouldn't I?

Critical reading is a lost art form. At least be applicable if you're gonna be snarky...

You can literally buy a Mercedes for the price of a Ford…

My hue bulbs (~30) are directly connected into my existing zigbee mesh via Zigbee2Mqtt, with no Hue bridge
This way they can serve as repeaters for other devices (mostly aqara door / motion sensors) and i dont have to have a separate zigbee mesh just for Hue.
They respond at least as fast as when i was using the hue bridge if not a bit faster since its a stronger mesh and there is one less bridge to hop through.
My hue remotes / buttons all work this way too

Zigbee2Mqtt connects them to Home Assistant which connects them to HomeKit / Siri so it passes the WAF test

How about buying a Mercedes for the price of a Mercedes and not a Maybach. About 95% of my smart lighting is Hue and it's not that great. Yes, it works well, but the app is limiting compared to other systems. The white bulb is absolutely atrocious outside of a few situations and even then it's very warm and honestly all their bulbs are dim compared to much cheaper competition

Then there's the bridge, it starts to get funky when you get over 40 devices, but adding more hubs brings it's own set of problems. Really, really stupid problems. This shouldn't happen at this price point. You would think that a business that targets people who buy expensive stuff might realize those people have big, expensive houses. And big, expensive houses often have a lot of light bulbs

And the fact that they won't bring matter to anything but the bridge is super frustrating. I've used many different smart lighting platforms but I transitioned to hue to keep things simple for family.

I think a better analogy than cars would be to Apple or Sonos. It's an absolutely fantastic system as long as everything you ever wanted to do is approved by your corporate masters. But if you even dream about stepping outside the walled garden they'll slap you in the face to wake you up
