FWIW, I had the idea to use one and connect it to one of those home wireless handset phones that have bluetooth connectivity specifically to tether a mobile phone, since apple watches have bluetooth. Connected fine, but in the end wasn't practical because everytime you try and place a call from the handset, a prompt appears on the apple watch to make the call, so kinda impractical.
Was hoping I could just use my 6 year olds apple watch as a home "land line" 90% of the time since she doesn't need to wear it all the time.

I have the series 7 and the always on display isn't all that important
Hi, is the $100 annual plan per family (multiple watches in the same plan) or per apple watch?
Same, I don't enable it because serious battery drain
