The pricing keep falling, and I doubt this is the bottom just yet. We've seen it before, folks. What we're witnessing right now is called a deflationary spiral, which means that manufacturers, being under the pressure of not being able to meet their sales expectation, keep cutting their prices more and more. This often happens post inflation and causes a lot of distress to the markets. Financial markets usually get hit the most.

The only solution to drive this market even further down is to hold the mf line. I refuse to buy the garbage rtx 4080 for $1200 + tax, but I will gladly accept the offer for $500.

Embrace your current system for a bit longer and you will see how these companies will bend over backwards to sell you their stuff for pennies.

This or spend a little bit more on something like the crucial p5 plus? They have a 10% back for prime visa cards.

Desktop users. If you have space PCI slots and want to add more drives.

Adapter Card For M.2 NGFF to Desktop PCIe x4 x8 x16 NVMe SATA SSD PCI Express [ebay.com]

It's 9 bucks at the moment. I can see these go up in price and SSD drives comes down more in price and people want to load up on 2GB game drives.
Just to clarify, dual NVME only works if your motherboard supports bifurcation. Otherwise the adapter will only read one NVME.

Also double check which slot to place this, because sometimes it'll affect the lanes of adjacent ports. (ie. using PCIE_2 reduces PCIE_1 to x8. Etc…

With so many competitive Gen 4 TLC NVME deals, a Gen 3 NVME at $80 is NOT a deal.
Most average users won't notice a speed difference between a good Gen3 such as this one or a Gen4 for general purpose usage and even gaming, just those needing extreme transfer rates such as people doing video editing/rendering, and even then its not a huge difference for running most programs. The only time a Gen4 drive will be 2x faster than this Gen3 will be if you're copying files to or from the drive in 1 continuous file dump. My main reason for sticking with this drive is Samsung's reliability, high endurance, value for the capacity, and extremely low heat output vs most other Gen3 drives and especially Gen4 drives. Most high end drives these days require a heatsink otherwise they thermal throttle but this doesn't need a heatsink and never gets above ~55C even under full load for extended periods of time which makes it great for my usage as well as great for laptops where heat and reliability are issues. The Samsung 980 Pro is my favorite choice for Gen4 but their firmare issue where they bricked themselves in only a couple months stopped me from upgrading to that model when this one still works great and I don't video editing/rendering where I'd notice any appreciable difference in speed.

Very fast SSD but runs a lot hotter than my WD blue. Had this in an AIO desktop w/o heatsink and it jumps to 75C after simply watching Youtube or playing a movie online.

I bought this for my 7591 2in1 Laptop (also a SD). However, no one seems to know if it will work as the manual says 1TB maximum. If it doesn't work, into the wife's workstation.

This versus a P31 for a laptop? I have a few P31 drives in laptops and I have a bunch of Samsung drives in PCs. Should I wait for a deal on P31 for a laptop drive or is this 970 Evo Plus just as good? The P31 is known for being very efficient and stays cool which is most important for a laptop drive.

You seem to know a lot about these 2 ssds already. Last week P31 deal was $30 500gb $50 1tb. Looking at the deal history, last month there was a $94.40 2tb P31. Idk how often the deals come but guessing from the deal history, maybe once a month.

P31 is said to run cooler by many people so I think that easily tops the 970 even if the P31 is more expensive since heat is a big deal, especially in a laptop affecting other components.

Also $30 Crucial P5 1tb last week. I feel real deep fomo from that deal. The stars haven't aligned as much as I like to get that $30 Crucial so 970 seems like the next best thing since my pc stopped working unfortunately. Stuck on "just a moment" when trying to boot so I guess it's time to get my first ever ssd in 2023 after living in the hdd dark ages since forever.

I know storage gets cheaper over time but I read someone say manufacturers will cut back production or something so I wonder if the price drops will stagnant these coming months.

I will wait for a deal on the P31. Thank you for the reply.

Can this be used as a portable drive, when added with the adapter?

This is my question as well. I guess I will have to ask Samsung directly to make sure.

So glad this deal is still live. My NVMe just died on me so my computer is now dead until I can get a replacement drive.

Any suggestions on the heatsink of the PC(not the laptop)? Mine is averaging 70C with picking at 89C.

Your drive probably has the old controller. I read that the newer version of 970 EVO Plus runs much hotter.
