Good deal. Curiously asked Microcenter if they would price match and they wouldn't. They stated "the price is way lower than our vendor would allow".
A lot of power for $190. With the 5600X at nearly $170 this is an easy upsell.

I think you should go with AM5. The 7600/X has better gaming performance and comparable MT.

PSU > GPU (if gaming) > SSD/m.2 > Monitor/KB/Mouse > Case (lower if not gaming) > CPU > Mobo (if not overclocking/maxing performance) > RAM

Never understood why people always overlook the importance of a good motherboard. It's like the foundational basis in maximizing the usage of all the other components...

Good motherboard makes it easier to effectively overclock both your CPU and RAM. Solid VRMs for more effective power consumption, and mobo heatsinks to keep things running cooler. Quality motherboards also have more NVME slots, and features like bifurcation to convert extra PCIE slots into additional NVME.

Not everyone is building a PC for overclocking or gaming. For instance, I haven't had a need to overclock in 15+ years.... I just buy a better CPU if I want more performance since I'm far better off financially than I was in my student days.

A cheap, stable, no frills motherboard is all non-enthusiasts need. God knows how many people buy expensive full featured motherboards and then never do anything with them. That's sometimes an extra $150-200 that could have gone towards a future upgrade.

With that said, I amended my ranking to clarify.

I also just tried this at my local Best Buy and essentially ran into the same problem. The system wouldn't let the manager price it lower than $229.99. Hopefully that saves someone the trip there!
Just chatted with Best Buy Online. They confirmed that AMD is giving Amazon special pricing, and were not able to price match.

Do I grab this or wait for another 5800x3d deal? I've got a 3600x b450 32g 5700xt build. It only used for gaming.

Will likely also grab a newer GPU to go along with it.

Funny, your system is what I upgraded TO last Nov. (rx6600 though) for my $500 budget build. Curious why you are upgrading? Are you stepping up to 4k res?

Meh, not really a deal. Look out for a 5700X.They practically perform the same but the 5700X is a 65w part.

https://slickdeals.net/f/16774277-amd-ryzen-7-5700x-3-4ghz-8-core-16-thread-am4-desktop-processor-17...

edit:

40+ upvotes? and the 5700x is currently $10 cheaper.
What's the point in getting a 5700X just to save 10 bucks? They're similar CPUs, but not the same. IMO 10 bucks is a small enough amount to where getting the better model is worth it.

Here's a comparison of the two CPUs in benchmarks: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/comp...en-7-5700X

I would buy this in a heart beat if I could get my Gigabyte AX370-Gaming-K7 motherboard to update the BIOS past F3! I've tried everything I could think of or Google for almost a year. I'm chalking it up to a defective board which ironically works great with the hardware I have now. It's just antiquated as far as performance is concerned.

The 5800X is one hot boi. Even with a premium air cooler like a Dark Rock Pro 4 it will reach 85C or higher if extreme stress tested in heavy AVX loads. Suggest tinkering with PPT a bit. I set mine to stay under 120W max and temps don't exceed 80C now.

With pbo and eco mode it stays way cooler and delivers on the gaming front as well
