You can muse but I keep my batteries in the basement all year round and only charge in the basement. If you don't have a basement keep them in the house unless you like lighting money on fire.
In any case the turbo charger says you can supposedly charge a hot battery because of the fan, but outside that it doesn't really have any other bennies except for a fine trickle charge that doesnt overvolt the battery.
So it may seem counterintuitive but when using LIon chemistry never charge them when they are hot and you should have enough battery to avoid that situation. So it will cost you less in the long run to have two larger batteries than run down 1 to failure every time and maybe get another to run through the rest of your workflow. In any case if you run them down let them cool then charge, because also keeping Li chem at low SOC also kills them pretty readily of fully at 100% all the time.
In general Li Ion suck, so when solid or LFP batteries come out I will be happy.
In any case last year I gave up and went back to my 15 yo craftsman and spent $3 for a new spark plug and am happy again. I can fix a small engine, I can't fix plastic parts you can't order and proprietary circuits.
I have 3 other batteries going strong 3 years now with little to no degradation.
Still works btw, I think most people dont understand how to store and keep a lithium battery.

I live in the snow belt (UNY) so I was going to sell my single stage small craftsman snow thrower but last winter was wet and I took it out and used it w/ my 15 yo craftsman dual stage.
I am pretty environmentally focused (all my vehicle are EV, have solar etc) but heavy equipment fails (mowers, throwers) and the cost will never be recovered. I tracked how much fuel I used last year (and it was snowy). For the two stage 1.2 gallon, for the single stage (sidewalks, small snow, etc) 0.5 gal. I put fuel stabilizer in there. So total cost with oil change around $12. Two spark plugs $4. So $16 in maint cost.
A new ego battery is $400 for a 7ish, except these all need two
So to "save" the planet for 2 gallons of fuel I need to go to a purely worse technology that costs dozens of times more. That is crazy man....
The other thing is lots of these parts are plastic, EGO doesn't stock replacement parts and I have seen neighbors need to scrap the entire device because EGO doesn't have simple replacements for drive components and like wheels. Its truly Apple-esque. For a gas one, you can get replacement parts for everything. So you have to think about ROI. There will never be an ROI for battery heavy equipment (at least anytime soon)
In any case (not sure where you live or needs) I would pick up a nice single stage or splurge for the dual stage 4 cycle thrower and keep it maintained for the next 15-20 years and call it a day. I would spend the extra for the dual because of "climate change" and you get more of those wet snow events that single stage cannot adequately clear. I had a buddy lost his finger a few years ago putting it in the chute (yes stupid) in wet snow, so risk goes up too. JUST be sure to use non ethanol fuel, change your spark and oil every year and you should be a OK.

I'm definitely not saying I'm against battery powered/electric use devices/yard tools, etc. I'm just saying that they can peacefully co-exist with the tried & true gas powered equipment/vehicles, etc. that we have used (and will continue to use) for decades. 👍🏼
After all, consumers should always have a choice, especially when different situations require different types of (powered) tools, etc.
All that said, I appreciate OP's post... but if you're like me (and the handful of folks that already commented), it makes more sense to buy a 'combo kit' (if on sale -- or maybe a refurbished deal) that includes the battery (+ charger & even the tool).
Black Friday is coming soon (in about 75 days). The past 2 years I bought an EGO deal each of those years on BF & really saved myself a LOT of $. Just my own 2¢. : )

EGO had a bunch of new products in the line up. I've mentioned the eBike but also augers and pressure washers!
