It took close to 2 hours to install the first, between my reading the instructions and watching the install video a dozen times... The second install took less than an hour once I was familiar with and confident of the process.
Installing was easy in hindsight.
They do a great job cooling our bedrooms and will serve to ease the load of the central unit, reducing overall power consumption.

So I found out recently that the brand is actually pronounced My-dee-uh.
But I can see HD being much slower too or canceling orders more often. sometimes even big Az drops the ball tho
Check the ccc's this is a great price on a hot product I am def in for one considering more though. Flip for 30-50 a unit?
Pros:
Cons:
- HUGE design flaw. The foam that fills in the sides of the AC, where the window is open, is offset so that it will sit mostly OUTSIDE of the window frame, rather than inside it. Look at people's Amazon photos, and you'll see exposed brackets on the inside of the window, so it takes away from the rest of the beautiful design of this AC.
- This AC doesn't get the room ice cold. Not an issue for me, but it will get my living room down to about 74F for me, even during 95F+ days. But it doesn't get much colder than that, even if you put it full blast. It's much more like a central AC unit, in that it can keep a room chilled with very little fan and noise, but if you're someone who wants to get their apartment to 68F, this is not the unit for you.
Hopefully this helps people make their decision. I love it, but really hope they fix the offset bracket issue in the next version....
long story short. although I love the Midea, perfect for an office room, guest room, living room, etc. But for my specific purpose of cooling down 1 room instead of the whole house for sleeping, I will most likely go back to my older crappier, lightly rusted, inefficient, noisy 5k btu window ac.
if your on the fence or have any questions, I hope this helps.

There are a number of factors that can add time to the installation. Window wideness, cutting the insulation foam, taping the sash foam, adjusting the support bracket, and considering the window sash lock. Here is the Youtube video for its installation, a video made for the original version and not the current revision: https://youtu.be/o5AIKmLvIKg?si=
Doesn't cool that well. Like many reviews, old AC cools better than this.
I guess maybe that's why it's easy on the electricity.
Nope old 5k unit is not high pitched at all. And as for the midea I can't hear it, my wife does but it's very quiet. They don't show any discomfort. They love sleeping there.
The installation is not difficult. It's different from a typical AC install but a quick youtube video will give you the basic understanding and the installation guide will get you there no problem.
It's so super quiet, quieter than a fan. It's frickin amazing. What a massive upgrade from my Frigidaire 8000BTU that I bought from BJs. About $70 in price difference but it's SO worth it. The Midea quietly fills the room with icy cool air whereas the Frigidaire blasts out cold wind. I thought I could tolerate noise but the Frigidaire isn't so much loud as it rather has this pitchy irritating sound that annoys me so much, gives me an effin headache. I swear it gives me anxiety every time the compressor kicks on. Stop yelling at me Frigidaire!!

It's OK, Frigidaire can't hurt you anymore
