    These would be great for hurricane season since I have so many Dewalt batterries always fully charged, but I just can't justify it even with this sales price.

    Is this an inverter? How is it better or worse?

    I road trip a bit. And have been thinking of adding an inverter and batteries to my trunk kit also for power outages at home.

    Also, would the 5 ah powerstack work the same as the standard 5ah?

    An inverter implies DC to AC or vice versa, this is a Dewalt battery to USB C adapter, essentially a DC to DC step down converter. It should support charging/operating anything that follows USB C profiles up to 100W which includes laptops etc. And a 5ah powerstack and normal 5ah would perform the same in this application, as the current draw is way below the limit of most dewalt batteries so only capacity would matter, which is the same when comparing the same size in ah/amp hour batteries.

    You'd be better off with a small power station. Size will depend on your needs. EcoFlow River 2 refurb can be had for $119. Tons more functionality.

    I do need a battery to charge my MacBook on the go, just wonder if I should get this vs a battery specific for Macbook such as Anker for $79 which is just $10 more. Anyone has a Macbook battery that they recommend?

    I don't really like DeWalt but will admit this is pretty neat. It's not fair to call it a cell phone charger. At 100W, more like a professional laptop charger. If you look at chargers for something like a Dell XPS or MacBook Pro you'll see chargers about the same wattage and at least as expensive as this. I doubt there is much margin in this at $70.

    Those do have a USB A port on them …. but I'm certain that output is capped at around 12 Watts, as they're advertised to be for phone charging.

    Being "5$" could've been True, years ago, or depending on Quality.

    I get my adapters from Amazon and AliExpress, and are injection molded pieces, staying away from "3D printed", home made pieces on eBay.
