!!!DO NOT BUY THIS WITHOUT A WARRANTY!!!

Spend the extra $$$ and get a warranty for 2 -3 years. Microsoft quality control on their gamepads is not great and have planned obsolescence. Unless they introduce hall-sensor joysticks, always get a warranty.

Agreed. These controllers are well known to have unresponsive buttons, would seriously avoid. Having a warranty is ok but more of a headache than anything to deal with.

Agree. Love these controllers for the long battery life but I had to get warranty service in less than a year for the rb button that was not responding.

I've never owned an Elite controller. Am I correct in assuming this core model doesn't have any paddles included? I'll need to pay more to make it feature complete?

Wouldn't tax have triggered the $90?
Have you ever used an online coupon before? They don't count tax

This makes no sense. Why would you buy a high end controller if you weren't going to use it a lot. This is marketed to "hard-core" gamers and it has tons of durability problems.
Had v1 and bought it back during it's launch in 2015, which I used until 2021 before replacing it v2 that is going solid still. Getting another one.

What is this? The standard wireless controller? It's not the Elite without the accessories is it?

Xbox's controller choices confuse me.
This controller is the Xbox Elite Controller v2, but it doesn't have the additional accessories which includes the case, the charging dock (you can still charge it with USB-c cord), the extra nubs and flippers.

Yeah, you have to buy the paddles separately. You can pick up a set on your favorite auction site at a much lower price.

Just returned a red Series 2 Core to Amazon last week because I was getting a lot of missed inputs when connected wirelessly (bluetooth) to my Steamdeck. I tested it for about 3 hours nonstop.
Every 10-15 seconds or so, I'd get a missed input (usually the A button), and, occasionally, I would get a double input. All of this, after I had fully updated the controller's firmware via my PC.

I have 4 PS4 controllers that I've tested with my Steamdeck, and NONE of them have input issues like this.

Target has a $15 off $90 in Target Circle. Not sure if everyone has it or just some but it shows on mine. Added a $1.50 item to the cart with the controller and the offer works.

In case anyone was wondering, your ONLY getting the controller and a charging cable. The past Xbox elite controllers included a carrying case, extra buttons, and rear paddles. Those now have to be purchased separately.

Which warranty do you recommend?

Price went up at Target. MS is your only option and their 3 year warranty is $20.

The "past" Elite 2 is the exact same controller as this and is still available with included accessories.

The "Core" version gives you the option of skipping the accessories in exchange for a lower price, if you don't want/need the accessories, or already got the ones you care about second hand.

Reliability issues aside, it's a great controller, even without the accessories. I never swap the thumb sticks and only use two back paddles on mine.
