Anyone upgrade from a 38" UW can share some sentiments on going up in size. Does the image look weird? I'll be using it for gaming and currently playing stairfield, wondering if it makes things more immersive.

38" seems like the sweet spot but I'm not sure.

I work from home so when I pair program with another person, I screen share a lot. Currently have a 35 inch and when I screen share, people can't see anything so I have to do 150% zoom.

How would that work for these 40 inch + monitors - do I need a smaller monitor flanking on the side for screen sharing stuff? TIA!

Yes, just get a second 1080p just for that.

I actually bought this monitor and returned it to get the Alienware 34. The 49 inches is a neckbreaker. Plus it gets really hot. I actually burned myself trying to use the screen buttons. Mine also flickered about every 90 minutes, and it's out of commission for 10 or so seconds each time.

It's not a bad monitor, but I like having everything in front of me at 34 inches. The Alienware OLED is perfect for me. Plus the text seems a little sharper, easier to read, and is much cooler temperature-wise.

Thanks. I appreciate your input. Im also reading the the lack of vertical height makes the image "claustrophobic." Might be a deal breaker. The other QC issues doesn't provide confidence.

How is best buy's return policy? If I use the monitor and dislike it can I package it all up etc and return it? Thanks.

I'm hearing a lot of opinions about text not being as sharp so am worried upgrading from a 34"

I have done a lot of research on the screen share issue, from what I read you need to download Windows PowerToys and in there is Fancy Zones which allows for sharing of your screen at a set aspect ratio/resolution. Hope this helps.

Sounds like what you need is for those other people on your team to get a decent monitor, lol

But for real, the core of the issue is that if you do a full screen share on a double-wide then the viewers have no choice but to show the full width which can be cumbersome if they want to also view their own windowed apps while watching yours. I run into this all the time. And the only true solution is to use a conference tool that allows more control over what you share. Teams is bad about that, but Zoom does let you share an exact region (for example you can make it the left half of your monitor). If you have control over which conference software you use, zoom will be better for what you need.

Teams let's you share a single window, that generally works for 90% of what I do since office files, Web pages, and code repos are viewable in browser and I just share the browser window

There is software you can use to make a "window" to share on your monitor. I use Region to Share, and set my region to a 1920x1080 "typical" monitor resolution.

This, I currently use the G9 Neo Odyssey QD LED for work. You can either share a single App or if you're extending the display from a work laptop, you can make that screen as primary and share that one on Teams.

It supports G-Sync so not stupid.
G-sync is still semi-broken on it. Grey content makes it constantly flicker and occasionally black out.

Visual quality on it is amazing but the software side is still very much under development. Lot of gripes there but visually, it's the best monitor out there.

Have this monitor for a few months now. I had (2) 2K monitors and a 4K TV, then added this monitor. Having the 4K TV hooked up makes my system act weird after putting this 49" on. I wasn't able to activate Gaming Mode with the 240Hz unless the 4K TV HDMI was pulled from the video card. I guess this is a lot of pixels for an Nvidia 3080 to push out, or something.

Other than that, great monitor so far and this price makes me envious lol

Best buy are F'ing assholes. I just bought it 2 days ago, and wont price match. making me return it.

buy it here

https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-Pr...D7Q22?th=1

same price. no membership needed..
Hopefully just an isolated incident. I've had a different experience. I bought this monitor back on 9/2 for $1599. Since purchase there have been 3 or 4 price drops, each time I just contacted customer service via chat and they have refunded the difference no problem.

I do have the Best Buy membership, which grants you extended return period to 60 days on most items, which is what made these price match opportunities possible.
