Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Do they run a credit check or take SSN if you get it from in store?
It's prepaid so that info is never requested.

I ordered 2, one with plan and another one without plan from Nov 06 on Straight Talk. Still pending remote fulfillment. Don't know why.
The remote fulfillment guy Larry is on Thanksgiving vacation in the Bahamas.

Wait so how do you confirm they activated it? Should I just pop the sim then-and-there and refuse to leave until I'm able to take/receive calls and texts?
Personally, I would just ask them to confirm that it's activated and ready to go and pay, but then just step to one side of the counter and open it / pop the SIM in, etc to verify its working before leaving the store if you're nervous about it. Probably no need to hold up the line while doing that if someone else is waiting anyway.

A small grey paper envelope type thingy was attached to the iPhone box. Inside was the sim card and some papers. The Walmart store rep opened the iPhone box, put the sim inside, turned the iphone on and made a basic setup without the Apple ID. He then made sure it activated and made calls.

Has nothing to do with any previous purchases, they couldn't care less if you did that. I've purchased numerous phones from all 3 of the TF brands over the years, unlocked & then used elsewhere.
Suggest reading some of the thread.
I had already read some of the thread—that's where I found out I could order directly from Straight Talk. But it's a real trade off saving the ridiculous extra tax that Walmart stores charge vs. waiting for "remote fulfillment" from these bozos. Glad I'm not in a big hurry (if that's ok with you)

Walmart is so bad. Been to 4 stores all with the phone in stock but 2 of them didn't know how to do it/didn't try and the other 2 just didn't have a phone person. I don't get why they're even trying to expand into this area

Seems like my local Walmarts don't have it in stock anymore when I call in. And ordering from the ST website seems like a shitshow.

So best deal then would be the $150 one on Simple or Total website? Have those been shipping and activating reliably?

Do those usually last awhile? I'm gonna be out of the country from Thanksgiving until Dec 11 so best for me to see what's on deal now

Same but only 3 Walmarts so far. The phone person isn't there and they have no idea when he will be there. They should train all their employees to activate the phone.

Fingers crossed that you get the dealnod

If you go for 2 phones you need two different emails for the deal to work

ask the rep for 2 different orders

IMO do not give the email you use on a daily basis if buying at Walmart
Just got back from Walmart, they had two of them is all. I just got one. The cell phone rep was super cool, super quick, he said I can get whatever plan I want to get the $49 price but I have to get a plan so I went with the $35 plan, came to $99.XX out the door, took less than 10 min for everything. He said you need a year of service to get it unlocked, I didn't ask he just said that so hopefully that's not true. From reading this thread seems everyone gets it unlocked after 60 days.

I went to Walmart today and got 4 phones all with 35$ plan. Requested unlock for all of them and all returned message saying it will be unlocked by 01-14. Walmart employee knew exactly what he was doing. Funny thing is that the same store 1d before didn't have the phone or maybe the guy at that time didn't know what was the deal anyhow keep going in to the store to try to get the deal. I tried with straight talk online ordering and didn't succeed.

Exactly what happened to me. I loved how the rep didn't "push" me to set up Apple ID.

I placed Order on Straight Talk with 35$ plan when it is selling for 49$ on November 6. Order status still showing as Waiting for Remote Fulfillment. Credit card already charged 6 days ago but no luck. Called multiple times Straight Talk CC every time the guys will say wait for couple minutes and stay online and finally calls gets disconnected. F..k this CC on Straight Talk .. Warehouse team don't have clue on what is happening on the order. Full time waste ...

Are people buying this to actually use or for trade in deals? I'd say it's a solid phone and if I didn't prefer a larger screen with my current A71 5g, I'd have no issue using this iPhone SE as my main phone. Streaming on smaller screen and typing can be a slight hassle. And since it'll continue to get iOS updates probably will last for a couple years longer . I just hope it unlocks properly after 60 days and I can use it with my T-Mobile service
