I'm grateful for users that predicted this deal in both Target and BB deal threads. I bought one from the Target deal, and I'm definitely going to use this. Thank you, SD members.
The terms say you need to buy the 3 months directly from mint mobile. Doesn't say you can buy from Target or Best Buy. I hope you can but terms say buy from Mint
I checked with a Mint mobile agent and they said there is an issue with their system and the offer is not working right now on their site. She said there is no promo code. The 3 free months should be automatically added to your cart. She suggested trying again in a few hours.

Can I use this in a mobile hotspot device? I was considering using one of these for a security camera

Our SIMs are mobile-designed and because of this, we cannot guarantee that our SIM cards would work on cameras and others alike. My best advice would be to try with a trial SIM card and then verify if the SIM card is compatible with the device. However, you can take a look at the compatibility of your device with Mint using the following link: https://www.mintmobile.com/byop/

Because CS doesn't know how to use multiquotes.

They may also be intentionally doing it to re-bump their deal thread to the top.

If l signup for 3 months + 3 months of free service I see recovery fee. If I pay the full amount today that includes taxes + recovery fee will there be anything else charge to my account during next 6 months? Wonder if recovery fee will be applied in 3 months or not.

Did you buy it online or in the physical target store? I bought it in the store. Would that make a difference in terms of the return policy?
FYI. Just came back from my store. Returned without a problem. If you bought it with the GC deal, you may be misunderstanding the line that says ineligible for return, which is for the GC, not the prepaid card.

Don't wanna hijack the thread or anything, but can anyone comment on the quality of Mint service?

I've been with AT&T for years, but with recent family additions, I'm looking to save money wherever I can.
Mint uses tmobile network and you get their overflow service. In a nutshell tmobile customers get 1st priority to signals, mint gets 2nd priority. If you live in a big city then that might cause a drop in signal at times, if you live in a small city like me (100k) then your service will generally be exactly like regular ole tmobile service.

Can I ask.. is the whole point of doing this so you have a "real" number in Google Voice.. so that you're always able to receive any 2FA from any bank / web site? Isn't there a fee to import a number into Google Voice? I've used Google Voice for many years but never actually ported a real cell phone number into it. So I'm not fully sure how it works.. I wanted to ask you.

Also, isn't it true as soon as you port your Mint Mobile number in then you lose basically the data, etc. that you had with Mint? Then you'll need to find WiFi to connect to to use Google Voice.. like for example, I signed up for the 3 month with Mint and I still have 1.5 months remaining.. so if I port to Google Voice now.. then I'll lose the 1.5 months of Mint service.. but I guess you're also saying that I could just simply sign up for a new 3 month Mint promotion?
I think you're a bit confused about Google Voice. Any number on google voice is a real number, insofar as people can call it, text to it, leave you a voicemail. It really has nothing to do with 2FA or banking/financial institutions. In fact, one of the oddball limitations of GV is that they frequently don't process PIN codes a bank/financial institution might send to you. If a PIN code is texted to you, on GV you may not get it. I generally ask a company sending that sort of code to email it instead.

Yes, there is a fee to port your number to them-- years back when I did it the cost was $10. I don't know if its still the same now. There are no other costs to GV, the service is basically 'free'. GV is for the most part a call forwarding service. Because of that you would have no real need to consider porting a Mint number to them, along with the concerns you state about losing 'your data'. You could just have calls forwarded from your Mint number to your GV number. It also works in reverse. Someone can dial your GV number, it gets forwarded to the Mint number and connected through that, but will show up on caller ID as your GV number. It all sounds kind of tricky, but it works once properly set up. I hope that answers your questions. To really understand GV you have to research the set up, and then just use it. Sometimes I find myself thinking about GV and saying, 'how the heck did they do that'? But it does work. I'm on it now for many years.

My wife and I are Mint customer for a few years now. In the area that you have good T-mobile coverage, it is good. Overall I'm pretty happy with the service. No complex steps required every year to get a good price (just choose 12 month service).

The only complian I have is they don't offer a good roaming option for Canada/Mexico. Red Pocket offer this for free, while Mint is pretty expensive ($0.02 per MB), or with the new package, it is still $10 for 1G/1 day and $20 for 3G/3 day.
I wish it can offer free roaming for Canada/Mexico, and cut price half for other countries.

My Mint yearly plan expires in 2 days. I've been pretty happy with them. I have poor reception at home, I think only Verizon works inside, so I rely on wifi. I don't need unlimited, I currently use the 5GB plan and its enough.

Is Mint still the best prepaid option? I also have a pretty old phone (Google Pixel 2XL) which I bought refurb and it still works well but no updates. Is there a good phone deal for a decent price (~$200-250) with new service?

Beware of buying phones through Mint. They use a 3rd party supplier, Quality One/Q1 Wireless, for their non-flagship phones. Lots of horror stories on Mint's subreddit, used, refurbs, wrong model, non-delivery, etc. That's in addition to trying to get a satisfactory resolution.

I have asked the question twice about the recovery fee in 3 months. Mint CS politely ignored them. So I am guessing the answer is yes. I will be charged recovery fee for 3 months of free service. Smilie
