Really good deal on a capable gaming laptop with great display for the price. The previous popular FP deals (twice) were on this with the RX 7600S for $749.99.

Yes, it's more or less equivalent to an RTX 4060.
On paper, it's 30% faster than the 7600S.

Imo, it's not. Overall, this is slightly better and the RTX 4070 isn't a major jump from the 4060/7700s to justify a $200 jump; maybe a $50-$100.

Dang, I somehow missed this one when I was looking yesterday. Looks to be dead now -- just me?
Yes. It ended. They put a clock on the page that it will be for limited time only.

Chiming back in... Mine came, as well as a Lenovo legion slim5 with very similar specs. The difference between the Lenovo and this one were immediately obvious. There isn't one way that the Lenovo wasn't noticeably better in quality and appearance than the Asus. The screen was particularly different. Hate to say it, but I'm definitely going with my open box Lenovo

Mine arrived today. Installed Spider-Man as a test. The fans were absurdly loud even at the title screen. I messed with both the ASUS and AMD utilities to try to adjust the fan curve without negatively impacting performance too much and was unsuccessful. It's just a really loud and hot piece of plastic. Just got home from returning it.

Considering every reviewer and redditor commented on how silent it was I feel like this may have been an issue with your laptop.

Not saying you are wrong but the Legion also gets roughly half the battery life so it depends on your use case whether or not it is better.

There isn't that much coverage on this model yet, but if you filter the Best Buy reviews for the 7600 model by the word "loud", you get several people reporting the same feedback. I can't imagine the 7700 would be much different in terms of fan noise. To be perfectly clear, it was in fact silent until launching the game.

Out of the hundreds of reviews that just would further indicate a defective one not an overall issue.

Without knowing on this model but knowing common gaming laptop issues I would guess detached or defective temp sensor that is causing it to think it's a lot hotter than it is and run the fans accordingly. Another common issue is just poor quality control on the fans so some may be louder than others due to age or damage before install.

It's still an issue but 17 people out of 443 doesn't indicate a problem with the laptop model.

Sure, it could have just been my unit I suppose. I thought I did a decent job of isolating certain variables, but I'm not infallible. The TUF series has a history of poor thermal design, although the A16 supposedly improves upon this. Admittedly, it has been a while since I've tested a "gaming" laptop, so I don't have much to compare this one to. Maybe they're all this loud (or louder) and I've just become accustomed to my much quieter desktop over the years.

Mine just arrived. So far fans haven't even turned on setting up and updating windows etc. 10 minute FurMark put them at 30% with 100% GPU usage the entire test.

They don't seem loud at all so far and what noise they do make is completely consistent whoosh so just sounds like white noise with no whistle or uneven rumble.

Again, it was silent until I hit the title screen of Spider-Man and it only got worse after starting the game. I'd be really curious to know if anyone who owns both this laptop and that game experiences the same thing. I'd really like to know if I simply got a defective machine or if that game is just very poorly optimized for AMD hardware.

Don't own that game but did just run for over an hour on FurMark. Took about 25-30 mins before the fans went to 100%. They weren't particularly noticeably louder on 100% vs 30% and ran that way for the next half hour with no increase in noise or temperature. Will let you know once I have a chance to play anything for a while but next day off isn't until Monday so could be a bit.

I think you got a dud. Granted my experience is also anecdotal but even after running for like 6 hours on benchmarks and various games the fans never got louder and it's a really steady smooth whoosh like a faucet running or something when they are at 100% so not really noticeable unless everything else is silent. When below about 30% fan speed the laptop is completely silent and the fans seem to not even need to turn on in most cases. Highest temp so far was 83 so the fans are doing their job. Granted it's not the middle of the summer but I haven't even bothered trying it a laptop cooler or anything it's just sitting on a desk.

A running faucet is a good way to describe the noise level if we're thinking along the lines of a faucet on full blast (which IMO is too loud, but maybe unavoidable with a laptop). The fans ramped up to about 70% on the Spider-Man title screen and then 100% in-game. I remember reading stories about that game turning peoples' PS4s (which also use AMD hardware) into jet engines back when it came out, so there's still the possibility that I just picked a bad game to use as a test subject. I tested with the default/auto-calibrated graphics settings and again with a couple of the different AMD Adrenaline "optimizations", all with the same result.
